Ipod not working in Mini Cooper :(

I'm the proud owner of a "new to me" mini cooper 2005

I was thrilled to find out that there is a hook up through the glove compartment for an ipod. However, I have tried to use it and when I connect it, the ipod reads "MINI.....OK to disconnect". The ipod does charge but no music comes out of the stereo.

I have pressed the Mode button on the stereo but the only thing that shows up is the CD player. No ipod.

I have also rebooted the ipod and this didn't help either. My ipod is currently running firmware 3.1.

Any suggestions?

With the MINI kit you have to have special playlists. I believe that they have to be something like MINI1, MINI2 etc...

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'll make a couple of playlists, as you suggested, and see if that works!

Thanks again.

The radio won't show "iPod" it shows CDC, it is a little slow to start up, so wait a bit. If CDC is showing press "6" and it will start playing all songs on the iPod. If you create playlists named "MINI1" through "MINI5" (those exact names) when you press the number buttons on radio you'll get those play lists.

When you initially plugged in the iPod and pressed mode you should see "CDC 7" is that what you got?

hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your help.

Creating the MINI1-5 Playlists did the trick!

Thanks again!
