Is this "Normal" Coolant Loss?

OK, so my 2006 Cooper has "used" right around 8 ounces of coolant in 77,000 miles. Does that seem normal or would you still call it a coolant loss?

Every now and then the expansion tank is just a tad low when it's dead cold.

I top it off with 50/50 Mini coolant and distilled water.

Seem OK, or do some Minis use NO coolant whatsoever?

Thanks to all.

That is normal, once it looses 8 ounces a week, you can start to worry.

Would look around thermostat houseing.
Prone to have gasket leaks there.

Exactly. Only having to top off once in 77k miles is doing extremely well. The thermostat gasket is a problem point.

Hi. I looked in my MINI's manual, and it advises to change the coolant every 4 years. Have you changed yours lately?

Themo housing failed at 30K miles and the coolant was flushed and replaced then. My guess is the "loss" is evaporation from the expansion tank since it's SO slow. Thanks to all...
