Hello, Folks! New member here...
Just wanted to say hello to the guys/gals of this community.
I just purchased an '05 MCS with 78k/miles on her. The car is clean, but I would like to let a mechanic do a detailed inspection and recommend services it may possibly need. Anyone have a ballpark number how much this will cost me? Located in Northern NJ, btw.
Also, one thing I've noticed, (perhaps I'm not used to the MCS short wheelbase and stiff suspension) the rear end seems like it moves laterally as opposed to horizontally when going over bumps? Could it just be the stock camber? Run-flats? Do I need new struts, etc? Who knows...
Any recommendations for this year MCS would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

welcome!
Are you refering to a PPI? BMW Indy here charges $99 which includes a test drive and report. Usually you get these before you buy the car, not after. The '06 92k mile car I'm looking at need at least $6-8k in parts/labor to make it nice. It already has brand new tires and battery plus a full service. Could use a clutch, PP, flywheel, t/o brng, PS pump and fan (preventive) Complete suspension rebuild, pads, rotors, wheel rash addressed, hood and lower bumper cover refinished, rt. headlight washer replaced. And this is just what I have found on my own, haven't been to the shop yet. Decided to pass on this car. GL/ I'm finding out there are many, many places to spend money on these cars. Sadly a lot of it is for maintenence, stuff that makes the car work like it should and not really an upgrade.

Yeah. My car is very clean cosmetically. The engine bay is very clean and the engine has an even "hum" to at idle with no odd noises (yet). No visible leaks. The clutch feels perfect and the gear box stout. Brakes feel great. I will be replacing the runflats for non-runflats. The passenger side door cannot unlock from the inside. The latch isn't catching. The passenger door is not aligned perfectly either but it closes. The only electrical issue I see so far is the OEM Navi won't turn on and I have the airbag light and tire pressure light on (even though I check the pressure). All the other electrical bits work fine, from the wipers to the radio dials on the steering wheel. I know there is something going on with the suspension. I feel it in the rear a lot. The ride is very hard. Coming from two STI's, it's even harder. Also have the mushrooming. The rest of the things I would like to address are cosmetics, but that's it. I have an appointment with a dealer. I'm currently looking for a shop.
