What's this mini really worth?

Hey guys, I'm looking at a 2005 Cooper s, literally every option, including navigation. It has the racing stripes too. It has 49k miles, an looks perfect, besides scratches on the roof and pretty bad curb rash on the right rims. The scratches look horrible, and I'm not sure how the rest of the car can look so good, and the roof look so bad. Anyway, the dealer is asking 19k and online there special offer is 16,500. I would want the roof repainted if I can't buff it out. What is this car really worth? It seams 16,500 is a good price, but I'm not willing to pay that with the roof in it's current state. Thanks, Ron

In my opinion, even $16.5K is high for a 2005 MCS with 50K miles.

Looking online I can get one a few years newer for 19k. What would be a good price?

Market prices vary depending on average auction prices for last few months. And that varies from state to state, and zip code to zip code.

In NY, that asking price may just be quite typical of that region, while in rural Massachusetts maybe not so.

I went to MINI USA to build a MCS with all the factory options I currently have, not even including the mods I bolted on.....To replace my MINI would cost in the neighborhood of 36-37K dollars.

I'm in san diego and that is a pretty fair price. I picked up mine (05 s w/ 36k loaded when i bought it 8 mnths ago) for 13k. That took me over a year and a half to find that deal, all the ones like mine were going for 17k+. I'd say that 16.5k is fair, esp since it has all options and nav. Might be able to knock $500 off..?? I got my hood repainted when I bought mine for around $350.

Just looked on autotrader for 05S's that year and mileage and they are going for around 16k for hardtop and 18-19k for convert. good luck

That price seems high....kinda subjective....but for a car that likely sold for about 30k in 2005, needs rims and a roof re-spray....
But anything is worth what somebody will pay for it....
But a pretty paint job does not a good car make....
if it was well matained....has records....seems to have been driven nicely (the low miles, and rim dammage might indicate a city car...lots of on street parking...potholes (check for strut tower mushrooming)....and unusual wear for the miles on the clutch and brakes....
A garaged car would likly lack the roof issues, the rim issues, and may/maynot have the orgional brakes depending on the driver (yes folks my mini 2005 has the oem pads rotors on the front....backs did get replaced...miles 52 k..).

Strange as it may sound...the average is much higher after performing a search on the web.....I get a sense it has to do with current market auction prices as previously stated, demand for a high mpg product and cost of gasoline. Seen it before.....
