Although we live in southwest Virginia, we own a "camp" on a quiet "fly fishing only" pond outside of Rangeley Maine. Generally our Honda Element is the vehicle of choice given the construction and maintenance tasks always at hand, but this time up, our 06 Pepper White/Black S (one of the last built) was the selection. It has 30K miles now, versus 143K on the Honda so we have to level out the usage. Plus, it is a blast on the roads around here, at least when the frost heaves are down some.
Anyway, the MINI is a fish out of water at the Rangeley Lakes Builder's Supply. Check out the company Shaun (you know, Shaun the Sheep, Black head, white.... never mind) has in the parking lot. Then, to my surprise, the 2x6x8 fit in the car, even with my wife in the passenger seat.
It can't hold what the Element does but it's a whale of a lot more fun on the 935 mile 15.5 hour drive. Maybe there is even the chance of steering around the moose. That Swedish moose avoidance test is certainly pertinent here.....
