this worth it?

ive a choice, 2002 cooper S for 8000. or a 2002 gti 1.8t for 5000.

wanting a toy car, something to tune. and i like small hatchbacks, (but hate hondas.) plently of people tune gti's. how are coopers? i rarely see a tuned cooper. i go tomorrow to look at both.

Coopers can be tuned. I'm not that familiar with the GTI, but I know they have a pretty big aftermarket. Were I in your shoes, I would drive both and make my choice based off of how I like the drive.

Some people have that attitude, but I would be willing to bet that they've never driven one. As long as you like the car, that's all that really matters.

You are the one baiting.
it is a cooper form...so the cooper of course!!
if we liked the vw, we would be there!!
if you want to know honestly, look up kelly blue book com....be sure you are comparing apples to apples....do a car fax, mechanical check, etc....
many car buyers will tell you buying the first model year of any new model/make should ne at a discount....for that kind of money, the cooper should newer....
You did get the car looked at by a mechanic right?! Condition is the main thing affecting price, especially on s 10 year old car....

I have not read all of these comments, but I own a supercharged Cooper and a 2.0t gti. The Cooper is a pure driving experience -- the gti has a sedan feeling.

My GTI will beat the JCW Cooper in a drag race, but that is why they are putting direct shift gearboxes into Ferraris. The JCW will throw you back harder, and I would prefer it on a race track.

i was aware cooper guy are bias to coopers, and dub guys are bias to dubs. wasn't sure where else to ask. so i asked in both. be honest the dub guys was very immature about it. making me think its a younger crowd. simply driving the mini answered the question. i think my review is declared in two words, "HOLY ****". this review was repeated at work from the guys i let drive around the block.

i got a car fax report, only oddball was a title change, think confusion on its year. don't worry i checked it out. i kicked the tires, checked the fuel guage. and pressed the gas pedal. and said, " where do i sign?". if anything esle is wrong ill find out on the highway!

I've got racing dings. Much like a golf ball, they give me less drag and better fuel efficiency.

hahaha, they really shouldn't be talking. Every time I tell someone I drive a golf they tell me it's a girls car. Also, the guys the 'Tex really are a very immature bunch, you pretty much have to belong in highschool to fit in with that crowd, and you also have to like lowering your car to the point where the handling is just obliterated. With that said the MK4 chassis is a very good tuners chassis especially with the 1.8T, but the Mini is far far better in terms of the fun factor.
