My Amazing 2002 MC Passed 409,000 Miles Yesterday

But, she got my attention several days ago when the RED Oil Pressure Light came on - and stayed on. I'd driven 275 miles that beautiful day - and was still about 95 miles from home. But, you don't want to mess around with that warning light even though the temperature remained normal, oil level was right 'up there', and nothing was leaking out or smoking.

So, I had the car towed and dropped off after business hours at my local MINI Dealership. That night, the only rental cars available were a Black Cadillac and a White Cadillac. Hey, I'm not complaining - that Black Caddy with 14,000 miles was quiet and solid - and somebody will probably buy it and enjoy it someday. But, I would never look forward to jumping into that car to drive 300, 400 or 500 miles just for fun like I still do every chance I get with my MINI.

Next day, my MINI Service Advisor called with the best news I could have hoped for; - everything was fine except for a faulty oil pressure switch. But, after 200,000 or 300,000 or 400,000 miles, you just don't get disappointed with a car that's been this remarkable. Everything still works like the day it was new - and nothing seems to be getting tired. Get a new one? - Why??

hstanfield - over 400,000???? Thats so impressive!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait to get my MINI. I test drove a justa and an S over the weekend. While the S was super fast, I think I may just stick with a justa unless I can find a killer deal on '05-'06 MCS. I don't think I want to have anything to do with the new turbos.....

Just hit 18,000 on my '10 justa that I got the end of March. Almost time for her to go into winter hibernation.

Many Car Lovers would consider my MINI "Neglected"

Minimize 07 said, "I have read your previous posts and have wondered what you have done right to have this little creature of a car treat you so well. Maybe it is the consistent daily driving along with your extended road trips. You must be doing something right."

Maybe my MINI just feels Loved!. I smile at her lot - I pat her dash affectionately - I listen to her more than I listen to her radio - we 'go out' a lot together- and I say nice things about her to everyone who'll listen.

Hey, - I'm 84 now! I washed her tenderly by hand that first Summer in 2002 - but she's been whipped by those big whirling Car-Wash brushes ever since. My Son waxed her in 2002 with whatever he'd used on his 1961 Mercedes - and then I think he did it again in 2004. Nice people say, "Gee, it still looks new!" - but, I know that all I've done is 'not bump into things' and 'park way out where nobody else parks'. (My primary exercise is walking to my car).

I was an Engineer - The Owner's Manuals we provided were important -
So, I read and heed the Manuals provided with stuff I buy - especially the expensive stuff! My car has had Oil Changes and Inspections on schedule, done by the MINI Dealer who I figured knows that car better than I - or the guy at the gas station - or somebody who mails me catalogs. Nobody else has been 'in there'.

That's about it; - that MINI was beautifully designed and manufactured - and like life itself - it's been amazing to realize and appreciate how well its Creator has succeeded.

2008 Mini "Justa". Just put her away for the winter with 51,000 miles on her.
Drove it the first two winters in the snow. This is second winter in which she waits it out.

Just curious why you don't drive it anymore??Especially a JCW.These cars need to be driven or they will develop internal engine problems when they sit for too long.Just wondering......
