Do any of your passengers ever get car sick in the MINI? Personally, I have a hard enough time being a passenger in an automatic car on smooth highways, even with my dad who drives slow and easy. I am even more sensative in manual cars as there is less continuity in the acceleration patterns unless the person driving is Super good with the shifts.

Im just curious to know if any of you have had any bad experiences with passengers getting sick in your MINIs, or you getting sick while the spouse/friend drives...

Omigod that's so funny! I forgot all about that. The first month I had my car I took another couple and us to a ball-game and half way there, the guys wife in the backseat had to trade for the front seat as she was getting sick! Actually she gets sick at the sight of a small car, never mind in one.

My friend Jill threw up in the MINI last year. But it wasn't because of my driving...it was because she had food poisoning. Man was that messy and gross. (Although it's funny now.)

Apple, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a totally hypothetical question for you right? It's not that you are actually getting sick in a MINI currently...

The MINI's a small car with a stiff suspension. Passengers with a propensity to motion sickness are likely to have that triggered in the MINI...particularly if they make the mistake of riding in the back seat. On the other hand, some people seem immune to motion sickness period. I'd pick one of them if I had to have a rear seat passenger.

It might help if you stopped serving in-flight cocktails.

No problems here with my passengers, but my wife once did mention about feeling a bit sick in the passenger seat (Mind you she is a fast driver in her MINI and is an avid rollercoaster rider) when I was driving and making quick turns.

It turns out to be that having the front seats raised to the highest setting tend to accentuate this motion sickness feeling. Lowering the passenger seat aft setting really helped her a lot.

My wife needs to have eaten a good bit ahead of sitting in the passenger's seat during any kind of serious driving, otherwise she doesn't do well at all. Even then, I try hard to be make transitions a bit smoother than I would choose
to if it were just me. Pocket rocket or vomit comet- it's mostly up to the driver!

I'm as prone to car-sickness as anyone I know. So far when someone else has been at the wheel, I've been fine. But I haven't tried it from the back seat which is where most of my issues occur.

I have a friend who claimed to be getting sick. So I opened the boot and let him get out.

It's gotten to the point to where my girlfriend wont ride in the MINI with me. She gets sick and curses the car everytime we get in. Something about the rough ride and shifting and blah blah blah...oh sorry.
I resigned myself to driving alone in the MINI or for "family" outings we take her new Mazda 3 (much smoother).

It also seems that the bouncing of the suspension hurts her chest (te he) she spends most of the ride clutching herself (te he again)..sounds like just another plot to avoid the MINi to me.

oh yes..and I took a close friend on a "run" thru the canyons...it almost made him retch. seems the MINI doesnt agree with passengers..oh well either do I.

A friend of mine won't ride in the back because he
feels panicky in a small space with no door and no
window to roll down. I am the only one to drive this
car, so I've never ridden in the back myself... it
would be fun, I think.

God speed.

Our daughter used to always get sick in the back seat of our previous car. Now with the MINI, she doesn't! I think it is the panoramic sun roof. She looks outside the car a lot more now and that is a big help in preventing motion sickeness.

This settles it, when I get my MCS, I am going to get some vomit bags for the glove box.

Video camera will be recording my friends' first ride in my MCS. If any are as funny as I anticipate, then I will be sure to share them.

I have many different vehicles but my son who is nine always has to sit in the back of the MINI and 8 out of the last 10 times we went on a ride in the MINI he lost his lunch. He is so good about it that he has never gotten anything on the interior, he usually grabs the blanket or jacket or something thats back there with him. I feel so bad about it and it took me a while to realize that it is the MINI. My Nissan Sentra standard shift doesn't do it to him nor does the mustang 5 speed. So I know it ain't me. In any case I carry bags and towels in the MINI for him. I'm hoping he grows out of it. :???: :???: :???:

bxmini, Give your son some motion sickness medication before you go out in the MINI. Also try to have him look out in front of the car and watch through the turns. This might help. Do not let him read or play games where he is not watching the road.

How old is he? Could he sit next to you and learn to steer the car? My dad did that for me and I loved going for drives. He would take over if there was any hazard near.

I would hate to see your son associate the MINI with barf.

Im one of those people that shift ultra-smooth, so no problems here.
My wife even does her make-up while i drive..including eyeliner.

My buddies get real sick when i race through the canyons though.
But that's their fault wanting to tag along with me. hehehe.
