Curious question about intercooler

so I have a question why certain intercoolers are made to work on manual transmissions and not automatic transmissions. Why is this? I know what makes an intercooler work but dont know why the transmission would effect that. Does it have something to do with the pressure drop?

The only difference is probably related to fitment. What brands have different ones based on trans though?

ok fitment makes sense, but do the engine bays differ that much if it is an S with a manual or S with automatic? And the one for sale in the marketplace says no to automatics

The only reason an '05 MINI would have an intercooler is for the supercharger which makes it a Cooper S, automatic or manual. An automatic transimssion includes a cooling radiator much like the engine cooling radiator which is right behind the grill. So, there might be a little confusion with terminology which could lead to receiving the wrong item from a supplier?

Anybody that has ever done a pulley on both a stick and an auto will know that the motor in the S sits in a slightly different postion than the auto....about an inch or so further over and slightly different height.....
I am guessing the aftermarket cooler may rub or have an interferance issue....
