R50/53 Well my passenger window is possessed...

My alarm kept going off today at work and on the way home I figured out why. Every so often the window would repeatedly go down 1/4" and back up again in a rapid-fire manner. This would happen every five or ten minutes and on a few of those occasions the dome light would come on as well.
Seems to be related to when the window is fully up, because if I leave it set at 1/4" down, it doesn't happen. I've tried holding the toggle up for 10 seconds, and reshutting the door - no help.
I have read similar stories on this and other MINI forums and seen solutions tried by the dealer consisting of replacing the BCI unit, the window actuator, and even tightening a too-loose window.
I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow and see what they advise.

Must be north east window weekend ...
My driver side stopped "doing the dip" on Saturday; reset it and it forgot again; reset again and still fine now!
Sounds like your car thinks the door is being opened - that would cause it to dip the window, and turn on the interior light ... moisture in the electronics, or just a poorly adjusted door switch?

Ian, I had come to the same conclusion. The small distance the window would come down and back up, the domelight, and the alarm going off all pointed to the door switch.
I took it in this morning and they replaced a faulty door actuator switch. They didn't say whether any water got into it, but I did wash the car on saturday morning.
Glad I got it taken care of before the storm comes...
