Yes, my husband and I always have a garage We work on our own cars, and we're still getting used to learning the way of the MINI's. But we love learning

There is a shop out here called Eurotechs. The owner, Jerry, is a really nice guy too, and always willing to help. You can find the page on Facebook, and he's on our local forum as well (www.dynamicminicollective.org). Whereabout are you moving to?

WOW! thatjust looks amazing...

My wife and I are starting a new project with an MC on the same color.

I will like to do some ROTA wheels, keeping the original tire size for now (16").

Can I ask what is the suspension (Springs) you got there?

I like the look of the drop...

Thanks

The suspension is a little crazy right now (so don't make fun).

The rears are Koni's, and the fronts are HP+ lol

The reasoning? I bought Koni's, but the fronts were built upside down, and did not work correctly, so my hubby bought me the HP+ set, but kept the Koni's on the rear since they lower correctly. But before I put these new wheels and tires on, the front was noticeably higher than the rear. But now it looks ok

Sorry for the long story lol (could have been longer, but I tried really hard not to let it!)

Hey I need some help.

So my MINI has those ugly little "chrome" bumpers on the front and rear. I was wondering if anyone knew of any Indi Blue MINI's with those things painted BLACK. My husband bought me some back plasti-dip so I can do my grille and headlight surrounds. I also have some OEM touch up paint/spray paint. But it's a bit darker than the body of the car (the car is 9 years old, so of course the original paint isn't going to be perfect).

I know how the bumper guards look painted body color, but I'm afraid they'll look funny since the paint is a little darker. I like the body color look anyway. Or do you guys think the black plasti-dip will look ok? I just don't want it to look too "base", if you get my drift lol. Also, I'm afraid the black will clash with my bronze wheels :/

Ugh what do I do?!

I think I'd go with body color - it would give it a more Cooper S appearance. Black would make it look too base-model for my taste.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm just afraid the touch up paint will be too dark against the original paint on the car. But I suppose I can always paint them the fake chrome again if I don't like it lol

How much darker is the new paint? I'm thinking the edge around the chrome pieces will provide a visual break and make slight shade variances less noticeable...

Ehh it's not terribly darker. Maybe I can get a pic of some areas I touched up on the body and see if they're noticeable

Right corner of the rear bumper:

There's a little line in the center there:

A little easier to see on the bumper under the hatch (all those little dark lines):

This makes me want to try the touch-up paint I bought for my car. I've got a few really unsightly rock chips on the driver's door. Kinda curious to see if my car's paint has changed that much over the years...

As for your touch-up jobs...how's it look in sunlight? It does look a bit dark in your photos, but I take it you took those from the garage?

It's too bad you don't live in Alaska - I'd make you a killer deal on my car's original bumpers (mine's got the Aero kit on it now). I've seen a few Justas running around with S bumpers...looks sharp!

Yeah I took those in the garage at spur of the moment lol. There are 2 gauges on the driver's side door, and left side of the hood where a horse tried to eat the car when the previous owner had it. I almost didn't want to cover those up cuz that's a funny story

Those areas look darker than the bumper though. But really, you wouldn't see all the touched up areas if you're not looking.

I really want an aero kit, or S bumper. They just look so much better and less...chrome lol. I've been looking into finding a bumper, but I just dont have the money right now.

Kim,

Go ahead and hit it with the plastidip. Give it a day or two and see what you think after that. If you don't like it it peals right off. you will only be out an hour or so of work. And you don't know you might just like it...

Well I plasti-dipped all the chrome bumper pieces and the headlight surrounds last week. I decided I didn't like the headlight surrounds being black, cuz they looked like the poor MINI had 2 black eyes paired with the freckled stripes lol

Hubby is in the process of painting them body color. And you are right, the plasti-dip came off nice and easy
He painted his chrome pieces (all of them) body color today, and I realized I would rather go that route. Gonna wait on the chrome bumper pieces til probably next weekend though.

Indi also got new springs today that properly lower the car evenly. Finally got H&R's from a local vendor

I have the same rims on my S model Indi and I am thinking of plasti dipping the rims in white just for a change up with the white roof and mirrors

Sweet. I like how that turned out! That front bumper looks like it's just waiting for you to put a customized euro-size plate on it.

Are you going to do a total de-chrome? I can't say I've ever seen a de-chromed Indi Blue MINI before...might be kinda cool.

LOL! Those wheels in the corner are my husband's autox wheels.

I am not sure if I am going to do a total de-chrome. The only things left are the door handles. My husband, however, did do a total de-chrome. He painted EVERY chrome piece body color on his red MINI, except the grille, which he plasti-dipped. He keeps saying he's going to make a build thread lol

And thank you
