R50/53 Oregon Spring Break Motoring- Yee haw!

Who needs Deals Gap? Took a day trip on some northern coastal Oregon runs not to miss: Highway 26 west from Portland, take Rt. 47 to Rt. 202- ends up at Astoria. Yesss! 202 rules. Another killer run: Rt. 53 south from Necanicum to Mohler. A few ugly clear cuts on both routes, but most is beautuful. Awesome stuff, stayed mostly in 2nd and 3rd (a bit of 4th), tach between 5 and 6, and very little traffic- didn't see a single Smokie in 4 or 5 hours of twisties. Lots of mileage w/ lots of smileage

You should drive it up Highway 14 on the washington side of the Gorge. Thats some good driving, very scenic too. There's also a lot of great roads off of 26 if you go the other way, toward Mt. Hood, like the road that runs from Sandy to Esticata (sp?), I can't think of the highway right now. Also, if you go up to Mt. St Helens along Washington 503, once you get passed Battle Ground (my home town) There's some great roads, especially around Cougar, and very scenic too.
Hopefully I'll have time to drive my MCS from DC back home to the PNW after I graduate, there's so many cool places to drive! I wanna do the Big Sur and California 1 north of San Francisco along the way
