D'oh! I've had my MINI since Saturday, and driving home from work yesterday afternoon I spotted a crack in my windshield! It's on the passenger side and goes from the bottom edge of the windshield to an inch or two above the wiper blade. . . it's sort of semicircular. The warranty says that glass is covered only in case of faulty material or workmanship. This doesn't look like a crack that would result from a rock or anything from the road. Maybe bad glass, cracked by vibration? Anybody else had this problem? Will talk to my dealer this morning. . .
Stress cracked windshields are VERY common on the MINI.

After only 4 months of ownership, my MINI is on it's 3rd windshield (soon to be 4th - a new crack started this morning).
I didn't crack...but had two small chips in the Cooper windshield...
caused by stone chips. Stay away from trucks!!!
Glad I have the Autobahn..I like it.
>>I have to wonder if Dave's driving style is what causes the stress on th e window?
Believe it or not your windshield is a significant facter in overall chasis stiffness. As is the quarter panel glass which is also glued in partly for that reason.
