I don't think so. Bradnic only shows that one MINI in the signature.

That's a different retrofit :
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tallation.html
" The ipod interface can only read five playlists which must have names beginning with MINI1, MINI2, MINI3, MINI4, or MINI5. (You can add extra information to the names of each playlist, as long as they begin with a capitalized "MINI" followed by a number 1 through 5. For example, you could title a playlist "MINI3 - Rock Out".) "
On the Bluetooth phone retrofit in this thread, it does not stream music.

Been into E30s since the R53.. have bought 7, sold 3, restored 2, sold 1 of those, parted 1 and have 1 on deck awaiting restoration.
Here's the vert as of last spring (click on the pic and it will take you to my build thread on r3v)
On the R53 front, my bud next door is picking up an R52 JCW vert, so I'll hopefully be back into things here soon.

Havent changed it one iota, had to replace the front brakes to pass initial inspection. It now has 40,xxx miles on it. And I dont use the blue tooth, in fact I am so lazy that I play CD-R' s on it for music. Note that I have two other 2006 JCW's and they are driven first (look at my profile page). Only thing plan to do to it is remove the black stripes

The OEM BT does get you handsfree phone use including voice dialing, and you have the premier system in your car. Then again we all make fewer calls these day anyway, and you don't daily the car so maybe not so useful. Still cool as hell to have on a fully optioned JCW.

Happy 2018 everyone.. I had to dump my Dropbox account last year sine they stopped supporting public picture sharing.. I do still have the pics stored thank goodness. I will try to get them reposted soon.
I do miss this car a great deal.. First gen BMW Minis were special cars

Does this kit need the ULF module to work, or will it work by accessing the phone contacts and voice commands directly like a headset? Also, can you clarify if the MSFW phone controls on the steering wheel work with this kit?
The description says the steering wheel controls will work with it, but I've seen the control module mounted to the dash or downtube on cars with the MFSW controls.

Yep, need the ULF. That's the main brain. Yep, i have it and its works, the little pad key it comes with if for MINIs without steering wheel control options. I also have both running at the same time, so its a duplicate key pad function/.

Is everyone after the Bluetooth retrofit so you can use the steering wheel buttons to answer and talk on the phone?
If so a Much cheaper and easier way to do this is use a Audiovox MediaBridge, when you have this interface you can answer incoming calls buy just pressing the DOWN arrow on the track button on the steering wheel.
The Audiovox MediaBridge is discontinued but you can still find them pretty ease on eBay and Amazon.

I followed this thread 14 months ago and was looking to add BT and sat radio to my 2006 Mini Cooper s r53 with HK stereo. I finally have a solution to do both and thought I would share.
For Bluetooth, use Grom BT-3 BMW Mini 98-06 Bluetooth Hands Free Car adapter Kit - Trunk. It is located in the pass. side trunk compartment near the cd changer. It plugs in to the two small three and five (?center of Photo) pin connectors from the head unit to cd changer and a you must run a thick black connector wire group to the stock head unit and replaces the aux connector at the head unit. I ran it under the side sill. Of course it requires a microphone and I ran this from the back into the headliner to the stock location near the sunroof controller. Works great.
I did this first and used it for six months before I added Sirius radio. For this I used the Blitzsafe BMW/XM SLD -1. It requires an XMD-1000, available cheap on eBay, etc. It installs in between the Grom BT-3 and small three and five pin wires from the head the unit the ch changer box. I don’t remember the number of pins for sure, but they are two small connectors that go back the head unit from the trunk side compartment. It plugs in the XMD-1000 rca and multi-pin and you are set. I ran the antenna up to the roof in the trunk weatherstripping.
It is is not perfect the radio buttons on the steering wheel work for the sat radio, but not phone calls. They will scroll through songs on a phone. The sat radio shows some text and you have 18 presets. The XMD-1000 only goes to channel 174 so you can’t get NFL games on XM that play in the 220s. If you have questions, I am at bdg1210. At. Gmail.com. I’ll try to help.

I have the European Arm rest. Is there a cradle/adapter that fits inside this arm rest, or will I have to revert to the US style armrest? Or do I even have to use the cradle at all?
#142
Hello,
You will have to convert to the center US full armrest. That is if you want to use the full bluetooth system. if you get the simple bluetooth system you dont need that center armrest w/insert.

The simple kit 84110302897 It does work with the MFSW also. The key pads are there for people that did not have the MFSW. I have the keypad and MFSW on the full Bluetooth, its redundant , but shows they work in parallel.
Thanks
Thanks
btw it is a R52 08
thanks for helping

I would check the wiring. Maybe they disconnected the system going to the steering wheel and just used the keypad?

Just picked up a nice low mile 2006 JCW (04/2006 build), and to my surprise it came with the OEM hands-free Bluetooth system already installed. Even has the MINI hands-free guidebook along with the user manuals. I assume it was a dealer installed item.
The car has the anthracite headliner, HK audio, dual pane panoramic sunroof, CD player, CD changer prep, a Sirius XM box in the boot, no arm-rest, multi-function steering wheel, auto-dimming mirror and the universal garage door opener. It looks like all the right parts were used on the install.
I'm just posting as I was hoping to get the system to work as a hands-free phone system. I don't really need music/A2DP stuff, but the phone interaction is important. Of course I could use a $10 cigarette lighter FM modulator Bluetooth kit, but I'm kinda an OEM+ ***** so I was hoping to use the original equipment if possible.
The system seems to work fine, as I'm able to pair my phone and set up a few contacts in the phone-book using the voice commands and pillar mounted controller. However, there is never any audio or microphone connection between the phone and the car's audio system. I can establish calls and hang up calls, but the audio is always in the phone itself, never the car. I'm guessing my 5G Huawei Mate 30 Pro Android phone is just too new to work with the old Bluetooth stack in this MINI hardware? Any help is appreciated.

Sometimes my phone won't let me select the MINI HF while on a manual call.... But when I initiate a call through the MINI Bluetooth device, it does properly select the MINI HF system... But audio still only goes through the phone's speaker and microphone.... I may try it with an older phone just for sanity, but I'm fairly certain my phone is just too new for this system.

Joe,
That system design is over 15 years old..... I get the wanting to make it work part.... but sometimes... have to give up the chase IMO... especially with this... Heck... they barley had iPhones when this optional system was designed.
You wouldn't think of carrying an original BlackBerry or iPhone... why have the 'other side' of the bluetooth back there in the relative stone ages too.
Go for a good quality Aux input for the stock head unit (ECS... have a PN??) and go with a good Bluetooth module for that... I've been down this rabbit hole more than I care to admit.... and simple is better IMO.
Something like this will bring you up to speed.... Love the Craven speed tach mounted bracket to keep the phone in safe view... and the microphone built into the phone works great....
Or this one with buttons and mic.
Otherwise, a simple plug-in no cut head unit replacement with install kit will allow you to use all the features on your steering wheel control including the phone controls....top-tech bluetooth etc...and a much improved microphone without looking out of place.... no harm and no permanent changes to the car or harness and perfect integration even with HK stereo.
I've got one of these on order ...but will use the craven holder on the tach rather than the holder that slides out of HU.
Working on an iOttie wireless charger cradle to mount to the craven arm.
Easy cut and screw install with simple charger cable hidden in dash.
Yes... all of this is 'clean' install.... and all reversible... without affecting CanBus function.
Heck... right now... I have an aux cable plugged into the USB-C or lightning connector on the phone... and it sounds great (spotify and phone calls).... Keeps it rock simple and super clear/safe to use.... and the phones built in mic is really clear even with the windows down.
