Has anyone had trouble with water being ingested through the hood scoop and into the intercooler? There doesn't appear to be any rain gutter to divert any rain water run-off..It's the first time we had rain in Southern California since I picked the car up last week..My last new Mini Super was a 1967 1275S..Nice to be back again!

There's no problem with rain getting on the intercooler. In fact during breaks between autocross some have been known to use sprayer to cool down the intercooler and ice on the inlet and outlet.

Nothing to worry about.

Enjoy your MINI.

Not only is there no problem with it, it may make your beastie snort some "smoke" through its nose. This impresses the hell out of the younger set, when you meet them at the traffic light.

Thanks MGCMAN; I had that smoke years ago with a 396, 4 speed Chevelle, it stopped after using a fire extinquisher on the voltage regulator. I carried a mounted extinquisher for years in many of my cars. What puts out water [little English spelling] vapour?

The intercooler on my BRG is rusting out already.....apparently there is a common defect in the assembly of the BRG and not only do they let in more water than other colors, it doesn't drain and rusts out the intercooler.......I am having mine replaced next week. They are gonna keep my babt for three weeks to make sure it is thoroughly dry.....sure wish I had a C/R job.......

I had a 1966 S. Welcome to NAM and best of luck with your new one!

I hope you're joking! What does the color have to do with the amount of water ingestion? And just how does the color affect the intercooler drainage? And what are they going to be drying for three weeks?

Sounds like a creative dealer explanation!

Pocketrocketowner is just trying to turn people off to Brg in a lame attempt to make his a rare color choice. Little does he know that all MINIs sold after Sept 2004 are going to be BRG.

I agree. It just doesn't make sense.

DiD: wouldn't hosing the hot intercooler be a bad idea because sudden and rapid cooling can cause stresses on metal?

After seeing some of his other posts, I think you're right. I fell for it!

The only reason I half-way believed his comment is that I've gotten some similarly ridiculous explanations from MINI dealers!
