I ordered my mini s in Indianapolis and expect to take delivery in December. But....
in the meantime, we've decided to move to Maine, also in December. I've been thinking that it would be more convenient if I could pick up my mini enroute at the dealer in Peabody, Ma. I would also save about 200 dollars on sales tax, since their rate is 5% and Indiana will raise their sales tax to 6% percent December 1st. Does anybody know, can I do this?

 

Sorry, but you can't. It has to be picked up at the dealer you ordered it from. However, you can work things out over the phone and fax, and see if they will ship the car to you. You will be spending more money instead of less though because you will then have to pay the shipping charges.
You're really better off just crossing your fingers and hoping the car comes early. :smile: It's been known to happen!

 

If your address is legaly in Maine when you take delivery, you should be able to get the lower tax at least... I know there were quite a few people who bought a MINI at my local dealership because of the tax rate (at least, that's what the dealer said... I was saving 1% myself due to differences in the counties tax rates)

He has a point. You pay the tax from where you live, not where the car is sold.
