Unknown part damaged by coolant leak

05 Mini Cooper S

Does anyone know what the cylindrical object underneath the coolant cluster is?

I just recently discovered a massive leak from my coolant reservoir which in the time that it has been leaking has destroyed some unknown wiring housing resting underneath the positive battery terminal which rests on this aluminum-looking cylindrical object. This wiring looks more like a rod of some sort and when I look further, it seems to have a yellow connector.

Its a long shot, but does anyone know what this is?

Suggest you take a picture....
Some of your terminology is kinda....er...hard to desciper.
Coolant is pretty benign....it actually PREVENTS corrosion....it does dry to a nasty crust...but that can be cleaned.

Just wondering.....automatic transmission ?

Because it sounds like the position switch which is mounted above the transmissions cylindrical oil cooler.
