I'd just like to take a moment to spread a little love:

I have been a part of another forum related to Jeep vehicles for about three years (seeing that I inherited a problem-laden Grand Cherokee when I got married) and it is not a very hospitable forum (as a whole). The advice, humor, wit, overall kindness, and topics on this board are great. Cyberspace can get a little rough and childish at times, but this board is always a joy to come to. I guess it mirrors the personalities of the MINI (oops, and Mini) itself and mainly there's a certain type of person that gravitates to these cars and it comes through here on NAM. I'm tremendously enjoying my time here -- second only to when I have the key in the ignition and a grin on my face (which I've never had one happen without the other).

Kudos to a great board and a great bunch of motorers and e-motorers!

Let's Motor.

Oh, no, I haven't been drinking.

I'm glad you're enjoying this board. I also have a CR/W MC I bought last September. At 60 years old I'm one of the old fogeys that make some younger people wonder if they want a MINI. It's a great little car and this forum can answer just about any question you can come up with.

Had any significant problems with your 02?

Yep, great car.

Believe it or not, I bought mine used with 22K miles (used ones are hard to find). She's in great shape and all of the recommended fixes have been done. I have no problems to report -- I'm about to hit 24K and all is well.

CR/W MC = good choice It's a classic!

Thanks for sharing, string! I do think NAM is cool but I don't get into many other forums. Glad to hear we're a good place to hang out.

Also glad to hear you're enjoying those Coopers. Cooper styling sends me!!!

I would have to respectfully disagree. Since I have joined back in 2002, I have seen this sight slowly go downhill. Although there are many good people on this site, it seems that the flaming and personal attacks have gotten worse! One of the only reasons why I come on this site now is to get a good laugh. Just read anything that "Trippy" posts and you will understand what I mean.

Wow, danial1 that surprizes me. I have to agree with the original post. I used to own a Toyota Spyder and a couple of those sites are rough. There's some great people on that site but to often there are people just looking to flame each other and instead of answering an easy question they say "geez don't you know how to use the search feature". No time letting nubies (which I am on this site) catch up and enjoy the experience. I have gotten PM from moderators when it seemed a question wasn't answered just to see if they could help. I think this is one of the best sites I have been on. If this is the version that is getting worse I just can't imagine what it used to be like. Free beer and pretzels when you signed on?....

Well, if you frequent the "off topic: Politics" you will see the "darker' side of NAM. Topics there are of a controversial nature and flame wars are bound to happen from time to time.

Yeah, I have seen his posts...he is too Liberal for my tastes.

I stay out of Off-Topic: Politics...and out of Performance Mods. I'm not smart enough for either one of those. But if you're wondering what color MINI to get...I'm there!!!!!

And I would have to respectfully disagree with YOU. I think NAM hit a crescendo of immaturity and general crappiness back in the fall, but has rebounded enormously since then. It is and has always been head and shoulders above any other car forum I've ever read (i.e., the ones that have been linked to from here...) And show me a political forum that ISN'T awash with flames and innuendo.

Once again Chris, you hit the nail on the head.

Have a beer on me!

Chrisnl,

After careful thought, I would have to agree with you that NAM has improved over the past few months. Since I do not frequent that many other forums, I will take your word that NAM is head & shoulders above the rest! Peace.

But... I'm at work! But I can close my door. But... there's a window next to the door! But I can tape some random papers up in the window. But... then they'll think I'm sleeping, and they'll bust in on me for sure! But I have my heavy snow shovel in my office that I've been too lazy to take home since winter ended, and I can just smack somebody with it and push them out the door. But then won't people wonder why there's a crumpled body outside my door, and maybe call the cops? But I'm leaving in an hour to go camping for the weekend; surely they wouldn't get here by then! I'll be across the state line, and my beer breath won't matter because my friend's driving!!! Oh the conflicted agony!

Sorry, Friday afternoon stream of consciousness...

When I first started reading here (spending way TOOOOOO much of my day browsing) and then adding my own posts, I too was amazed at the overall general positive nature of this forum. Much less flaming than the Quattro one I used to live on.

Then, I started to see some posts and replies that started to change my opinion.

oh, and to be clear, I think the above is opinion, not fact

thoughts?

Countrym - Thanks, now I'm thirsty (great sig).

CooperBeagle - no "dogspeed?" You're slipping . . .

Signed, a Happy MINI and Beagle Owner (she's white and black and named "Snoopy" - really).

Well, I absolutely love this site.....I learn a lot, I argue a lot, I look at pretty much every single thread and usually opine.........it is also a good place to warn the world about the evils of BRG ownership......that is the best thing about this site, I can prevent others from going down that path, or at least try to prevent them and warn them......
