Hi guys,

I am just posting this up so that hopefully someday when some is searching for help they will find it.

For the last few months I have been hearing a clunk (like something popping up and down) coming from the rear of the car. I drive in and out of NYC everyday and needless to say -- the roads are rough -- there are potholes uneven surfaces etc. As you can imagine the noise got tired pretty fast.

After about 2 hours of driving now, I can honestly say I love the sound if silence so much. The noise is gone.

So -- after doing some searching on clunking noise, rattling, etc.. I decided that I started with two things.

1) I ordered 17mm Powerflex Rear Sway Bar Bushings -- there are a couple of different sizes, if you want to be sure you get the right size, take a 16mm wrench and a 17mm wrench out to the car -- and slide the open end over the sway bar. Start with the 16mm, if it fits your bar is 16mm, if not try the 17mm.

2) After jacking up the car I decided I wanted to double check the work I had done on the left rear strut and spring - I took it down double checked everything was tight (the top nut was a little bit loose).

3) Removed the 2 - 13m bolts holding the sway bar clamp down -- you would be surprised at how short those bolts are (1/2" maybe?)

4) Disconnect the rear sway bar link. You need a 17mm wrench to hold the bolt and a 16mm ratchet to remove the nut.

5) pull the clamp and old bushing up and off -- remove the old bushing. Mine did not look worn but I don't know if it would look cracked or something else.

6) Generously use the supplied lubricant to coat the inside of the sway bushing this will prevent squeaks

7) Install the bushing on the bar and replace the clamp over top of your new purple bushing. Bolt the 2- 13mm bolts back down. Repeat on the other side of the car.

Thats it. -- total time including jacking up the car and putzing around about 45 minutes.

KEYWORDS: Clunk, Rear Sway Bar, rattling, clunking
