Yep, I had it happen on my R53. Turned out to be the Spring Booster I installed. It worked for over a year and then decided to die on me. Took it out, reset the code, and all was fine. Could also be something in the gas peddle if you don't have a Sprint Booster, just a thought.

Sorry, meant to type Sprint Booster. It's an accessory that changes the "fly by wire" response of the gas pedal. It doesn't make the car perform any better/faster, it just feels that way. You can find information here: http://www.sprintboosterusa.com/

However, if you don't have this installed, the P2138 error code must have something to do with the gas pedal or the connection to the control module. I'd start with the pedal first. Check the connector and the wiring.

Sorry, meant to type Sprint Booster. I included an original message with a link to the Sprint Booster site but it needs to be reviewed so I'm re-typing the information here without the link.

The Sprint Booster installs between the accelerator peddle and the engine control module. It doesn't increase the performance of the car, it just makes it feel like there's an increase in performance. A whole other conversation and I'm not looking to get into that as part of this post.

So I would start with checking the connections on the accelerator peddle. Maybe it's loose, or dirty. It could be the peddle itself. If it's more than that, then the control module needs to be diagnosed. That's how I'd go about this.

Here's my opinion on this...

I understand the technology and the science behind what a Sprint Booster does and I know it doesn't change any of the performance output of the vehicle. So I'm not looking to get into a debate about enhancing performance.

However, it does make the response of the car "feel" quicker. It's all about how it feels, not that the overall performance has changed. If you have a certain driving style, it will make the car feel like it has increased performance. If you're a driver that constantly has the peddle mashed, then a Sprint Booster probably isn't for you. But if you're a driver that isn't always "peddle to the metal", then this is a nice addition and it makes normal driving a lot more fun.

If you're looking to increase performance of the car, this won't do it. But it makes driving more fun, IMHO.

That's my $0.02.
