adding a header, still hear the whine?

06 factory JCW with stock JCW exhaust. Adding 17% pulley. May add a header. I absolutely LOVE the supercharger whine! Will I still hear it if I add a header? Looking at a race header (maybe RMW?) as my tuner tells me no cat will have better results and he can ensure I will pass emissions.

Yes you will still hear it, to help this make sure your CAI is de-flapped.

As far as the Header goes, unless you plan on going to a BVH in the future, the extra cost for the RMW over a less expensive OBX or something is actually a waste. (The JCW Head is the same as a regular S Head, just with a slight amount of porting on the exhaust side, same size valves.)
And as far as CATless, you may gain a slight hp increase but will give up some tq, so it really depends on your personal likes as to wheather it's a good idea or not. And as far as S/C whine goes, for the most part a Header will only be considerably louder when you open it up, CATless will be louder under all acceleration.

I run an OBX header, catless, with Magnaflow exhaust. The car isn't really loud at partial throttle, but is a banshee at WOT. Highway drone isn't too severe (for me). Regarding torque loss after going catless, I didn't notice it. The car is supercharged, so power is available pretty quickly...

Regarding the whine, I can barely hear my supercharger after the header, but I'm also running the loudest exhaust available. You'll still hear yours w/ a JCW.

I run an OBX Header with a Random Technology Cat on my factory JCW 06 Cabrio with a deflapped CAI. I run the JCW exhaust but cut the bend out of it right before the y split and feel like the sound is perfect. I can still hear the supercharger whine (16% pulley). I can be quiet when I want or make the world know there is something going on when I put my foot down. I get a lot of positive comments on my exhaust note. That said, if I were to do it all over again I would go RMW because one day I will go BVH and my OBX will be too restrictive to achieve the full gains of the head.

I've got the RMW shorty (street) header and stock '06 JCW catback. Part throttle acceleration is much louder than stock, but can still hear the whine. Above 5k, it screams and you can't really hear anything else. Also has a serious basso profundo "boom" at idle (1050) that disappears just above or below that RPM.

I went with a cheap 200.00 ebay special and have not issues with it. I have a friend with a MUCH more expensive setup but I dyno'd a few HP higher then he did .

And YES the whine will still be there.

I don't have a header, but previous owner put an Alta CAI on it. Some say it's the loudest. I really love the whine of the sc. At WOT it seems the rushing air of the intake is actually louder than the exhaust. Love it but I think the stock exhaust could be opened up a little to match.

I have a JCW W/15% pulley, RMW shorty header & cam, etc... and I still hear the supercharger quite a bit.
