R50/53 Making my own fiberglass/carbon fiber rear diffuser.

Well title says it all. Basically what I am doing is attaching a defuser to the bottom of the rear bumper trim. I notice a lot cut the trim but this IMO looks just as good with less work. I've got the cardboard template worked out The passenger side in this picture wasn't trimmed up to fit the exhaust so it's hanging lower on that side.
Already starting some fiberglass on it.

I like what you are doing here. Looking forward to watching your progress. I really want to do something like this for my R52, I think it would help keep the back of my car cleaner. When I finish a drive with my top down, I will have debris accumulated in the folds of my roof especially if people are mowing their lawns and have grass clippings on the street. Plus, I think it looks cool too! Good luck with the project.

Watching this!
I'm still planning on similar, but I have some diff material choices... I work for a company owned by Philips, and we make MRI coils... One is a coil for your back, and well, the plastic shape is perfect. I'll start a thread when I start that project. But not to steal your thread, sorry! Lol. Looks great so far!

I debated doing mine from steel because I want to also make a front lip I'll probably end up doing it all with fiberglass and carbon fiber. If I would of done it with steel I don't think it would have came out quite as nice of quality having a ton of brackets and such holding pieces together probably would of had to fiberglass that as well and I don't think it would look as good so thin. When I am done it will be about 1/2" thick and you'll just see carbon fiber clear coated in. It sucks they don't make any diffusers for the Y exhaust. Only way around making your own if you have an r53 is to remove battery box and convert to r56 exhaust and rear end from the new minis and do the gp2 diffuser. I pieced everything together last night and took a shot before I began fiberglassing the whole top.

Fenders will be after this. I am currently in the thought process on my front wide body lip and side splitters. I'm going to try and make a photoshop of the kit and post it but will be a few days I need to first design it with cardboard. I'm trying to make it functional. Wide fenders will have vents so be a little bit harder.

Did you have to delete the battery box to run this?
What type of material did you use?

Pretty good craftsmanship. Looks like he maybe used some sort of black lexan plastic? This is the material used for my rear diffuser. Pretty awesome stuff.
