Replaced coolant tank and
This summer i had my coolant replaced by local shop. After that i could smell coolant whenever i got out of my car for several months. I checked the coolant tank and sure enough it was leaking onto the drip shield.
Picked up new tank and put it in today. Filled the tank and opened up the bleed screw up front (couldnt find the other one) Ran the engine and turned on the heater. Ran it for a long time and nothing ever came out of the bleed screw and the fan never came on. WTF Any ideas?

I usually take out the bleed screw. put in a tiny funnel and top it off thru there. It will fill the bubble that is behind the thermostat. your coolant is cold and your thermostat is closed. that is why you don't get any coolant out. I have done it like this many times and always seems to get out every last bubble of air.

Doesn't leaving the cap off the tank while it runs also bleed the air out?

Nah the water in the car will boil into the expansion tank, make's a mess of the engine… I've been doing the same thing all day with no luck… Anyone else with an idea? There's supposed to be a bleed/drainage plug on the back of the engine block… But i can't find it..

Still not quite understanding the bleeding process. The top radiator hose with the inline bleeder screw never did bleed out any coolant, nor did it seem any coolant was in the hose
If the thermostat doesnt open then this hose will be empty? I ran the engine for a good 10 or 15 minutes with the cap off and the bleeder screw open.

Finally found the other bleed screw by the t-stat housing. Its a mother to get to
.....if you take the intercooler bracket off it is a little easier to get a socket on it. The bolt is a size 8mm and you will need a pretty good extension to reach it. Also got my car warm enough to open the t-stat and bled the top radiator hose so all is good now. Thanks to your replys
