Can I put an 07 or newer Aisin Auto 6 speed in my 2005 MCS?

I've tried searching the forums...as I am a newbie but haven't found anything specific about what model year Auto Trans will work in my 05 Cooper S.

This is NOT a cvt. It is the Aisin 6 speed.

I was wondering if the 05 is specific to 05 and 06 model years or if the 07 and up to 2010 would also bolt up?

If so, what else would I need? Computers, resets, programming, etc. Any help is much appreciated.

Has anyone been able to do this?

From what I know, everything under the hood was completely redesigned from the ground up for 07+. Your best bet would be 02-06 autos.

That's why the 07 and ups must be cheaper.

Thanks for the quick reply, that was my guess but not much solid out there on google around it.

I was hoping beyond hope it was close enough. I understand there are some external cooling options on the 07 and up that are pretty attractive given the Automatic tranny history.

Thanks again.

Any chance of adding the third pedal? The 6 speed manual is pretty solid, and can take a good bit of power.

Yep.

I've seen some good write ups on putting a 6 speed getrag in and getting all the computers flashed. This is definitely on the table, especially with the reliability factor. It's just the balance between the extra time involved and losing the auto for rush hour....
