highest horsepower in a mini s?

what's the highest horsepower in a mini s? i searched on google and i found one that's estimated 300 hp and all wheel drive, possibly by john cooper works in the next year...it said "MINI is going WRX hunting..." anyone else get their cars past the 250 hp mark? if so what kind of 0-60 do you have? i'm looking for numbers here for the best possible tuning, my 05' is arriving within the month and it will already be 10 up on the last model....but where to go from there... i know pulleys and ecu's etc., i read a lot on twincharging that sounds sick! any other hp numbers? let's hear...

nbame786,
Going past the 250 HP mark is not that hard to do if you consider turbo or twin supercharger and most of the big upgrades (19% pulley, larger intercooler, ported and polished cylinder heads, schrick cam, rebored throttlebody, exhaust header/ cat-back exhaust, intake, etc) but it wouldn't be cheap and you could easily double the cost of your new MINI in the process.

What is possible for a 0-60 time? Under 6 seconds easily but that is not the strength of the MINI (unless you could get the weight down to about 2200 pounds). Handling and high g-forces in turns/slaloms is.

If you had about 220 HP and a limited slip differential with good light wheels and sticky tires you'd be doing awfully well. Maybe not the burn out power of 300 HP but you wouldn't have the wear and tear of that much power on all the other systems.

For excessive power see one of the NAM sponsors- M7.
Have fun. Throw in the nitrous kit (venom).

Well, the highest hp in a MINI that I've seen was in the ones that Qvick Motors create. They state they still use the original chasis for their creations, so technically, it's still a MINI kicking out 333hp.
There was Jesse James' creation on Monster Garage putting down around 300hp+
So who's gonna be first to make a dual engine, AWD MINI with like 500hp+?
Cheers,

Why stop just making it dual engined...make the thing run on nitromethanol... ...the sky is the limit...

Hey nbame....I have only had my MINI a short time and I'm waiting for the warrenty to run out...however three of the guys i run with each have ruffly 230 HP and that's with out doing anyhead or cam work...so you can imagine how it will climb as they do more...and we do all the work ourselves...well not all of us...some of the guys just pay for it....but I like to do it my self...so if somethign goes wrong I can fix it...it's pretty easy if yo uhave to tools just time consuming....

I too will eventually get there but choose to wait...in the mean time I'll do other stuff...

ALSO! there is a tranny swap that is WAY over priced but it is quite impressive...it's like getting 100hp so they say...ofcourse it takes your top end sped from 160 to 140...anyone who has accually exceeded 140 will tell you there really isn't too many places to hit speeds higher than that...I mean in AZ I did it on my bike qutie more than I should have...heh heh....and if you started at not and got to 140 and you are racing someone you are already going to know if you won....plus twisties are much more fun...SO! take the 265 hp from madness for instance add the tranny and you are lookin at 365 hp...hmmn...lets see what can keep up then...ofcourse you have to be able to drive it...

P.S. don't forget about brakes wheels tires and suspention...if you are going to do it do it right...I know a few guys with 700- 1200hp supras and these guys keep the stock suspention and brakes....IDIOTS in my book.....drive fast ...drive hard....but be safe and have fun....

What kind of tranny are they using now?
Also I think you meant from 140-160 top end.
If so they must of adjusted the ECU settings. Wow! How was this done?

We are soon working on a full engine program. We are going to be developing new Piscons, Rods, and other internals that we are hoping to push us past the 300 HP Mark. We already have the new larger valves, and performance cylinder heads. Should be some time in the winter that the engine is complete.

The Becar Mini had a 3.0L engine in the back last year with 360hp,

this year he has a 3.2L engine . . .

I believe all the Supercar MINIs that are putting out 300+hp without NOS are running BMW S50, S52 and S54 motors from the various M3s. As for the highest hp MINI I know of it is the BBR MINI from the UK that pumps out 275 hp.

IIRC, back in the very early 90s, there was an article in either Road and Track or Car and Driver that discussed how it is difficult for cars to break the 4.0 sec mark for the 0 - 60 run. It had something to do with inertia and getting the ower to the ground. This article also talked about the limits of FWD and how it is even harder to get the power to the ground than RWD. I guess the next evolution of the MINI tuners would be to make them AWD! Now that would be a MINI to scare the wits out of the STIs and EVOs!

AmD pushed their car to 398hp, twice. Both times it blew up trying to push past 400hp.

I think 300hp is quite doable. With a Twincharged setup, some headwork and cam, a 19% pulley and so on.

I think if you can get to 250hp at the wheels (i.e. about 280hp at the flywheel) and lower the weight down to 2500 pounds (which is only a reduction of 200 pounds) you would have a real screamer. This should easily do 0-60's in the very low 5's.
