My MCS is in the Paint Shop! Yippie! Out the door tomorrow and off to the docks. Next ship is leaving on 9/4 and I hope she makes it!

Well, I sold my truck today so I have my finances in order to buy the MCS as soon as it hits the dealer in mid-September. The wife and I will be sharing her Jetta til then - I can see loads of domestic peace and harmony

I wish I had the same luck. My car has been for sale for about 3 weeks with no interest yet. And we can even make do with 1 car pretty easily.

It will be worth it! The real trouble starts when she wants to drive the mini. Are you on the same boat as me? My car is on it's way to Sac, CA.

Did you buy it in Ohio, or here in CA?

miniwifey - I ordered it through Julie from Classic Mini of Ohio... I tried to get it here in Ca. but I was just being raped by the local dealers... to think that I got my 03 MC from one of them here..... in any case, it's been great so far... I didn't want to pay the dealer $3k over sticker so ordering it out of state saves me around $2k since it's about a grand for shipping..... In addition, I've heard tons of good things from Julie of Classic since my local mini club had a group buy from her a few months ago... 8 minis to be exact and everyone was raving about her...

Tracking the WW Freedom

MINWIFEY - Go to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Cargo Tracking website:
http://213.31.205.37/GLWebApps.AppTracking. On "Track by Cargo," click Auto. Then enter your VIN for Cargo ID, and it will show you which ship yours is scheduled for, IF (big IF) Wallenius Wilhelmsen is the carrier on which your honey will be sailing!

If you show up as scheduled for a WW ship, you can click on its Voyage Nunber to see its schedule.

If you're not on Wallenius Wilhelmsen, then I hear that only your MA has any info.

Hope this helps!

Go to page 5 of this thread and scroll down. Someone posted a nice tutorial for tracking your mini! I believe it came from Motoringfile.com, but I can never find it on that site!

The MINI2 article gives all the details on tracking the shipping. See it here:

I am one of the unfortunate few who seem to be on some other ship besides a WW....I am in a black hole now until my MA calls me to say it arrived.

I know the feeling. The Car is in a black hole also, OL says it was delivered to the dealership yesterday and my MA dosen't seem to have a clue, keeps talking of it being here next week.

Folks I've posted this a million times. If you read around you will find it. But here goes again, until it's added to that infernal FAQ. If you're being shipped on a different carrier, and you know you've already left Southampton, your dealer can provide you with the carrier and bill of lading number from their BMWnet system. When you get that, you can call the carrier (either NYK or K-Line) and ask them what ship that bill of lading number corresponds to, and then you can figure out when that is to arrive. You can even find out the callsign and in some cases track them through the water if the ship is reporting.

You're not in a black hole!

Thanks for the info!!! I did have the WW instructions, but it does look like I'm on another carrier. I used the VIN, and it doesn't recognize it. So, I sent the dealer an e-mail, asking for details. Anyone else with a car headed to CA, and a build date around 8/21, might be in the same boat. No pun intended.

Little add-ons

Seeing as though a lot of us are getting our cars or about to get them, I'm curious what others have bought for their babies.

I've got the glovebox organizer and plan on getting a stubby antenea, the parcel shelf, and possibly some door handle scratch guards. I've also got the application for vanity plates all printed out and ready to submit next week!

How about you guys?

Alfredo,

Will the same stubby antennas work? Because I know they changed the antenna design a bit to incorporate more, but that's probably all in the base... do these antennas just consist of the screw-on rod, or is there more to it?

Also, any difference in reception?

Thanks.

I forgot about that! I've got one of those on order too.

mlebeau - from what I've read on the Exterior Mods forum (I think) the stubby one has the same or better reception. I'm almost positive that they said it would work on the 05s too or I wouldn't have added it to my list to get.

We're also contemplating the LightsInSight thingy, if it's needed. I didn't notice any issues seeing stop lights during my test drive, but I'm short and my hubby did more of the in town driving.

Thanks for the info, 2005LY. While we're on the topic of first mods, here's the tint that was installed on my car today. Julie at Classic sent me 'updated' pictures today after it was done. :D I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY CAR!

Little Add-Ons

I have received my magnetic bonnet stripes (black with white pinstripe) and just ordered a stubby antenna and wheel locks. I also have a Cooper S license plate from, but I don't know how it will look on the aero kit. I will also transfer my personalized plate(4N6) to the Mini. Lots of new Christmas gift possibilities
