Confused

I am scheduled for week 32 per a live person at ASK MINI. So I am wodering when you guys (bartmack and HB05MCS) put your order in at the dealer. I ordered on 7/2. If you guys ordered about the same time, I wonder what the delay is? By the way, I may as well add my name here too since my car could go either way.

I ordered 6/28. It's possible yours will just show up as in production in the next few days. Have you spoken with a person at ASK MINI recently about your order status? Always use that, instead of the OL.

From MINI2, (there's more information than what I've quoted):

MINIUSA Customer Service Tracking

MINIUSA customer service is available at 1-866-ASK MINI (1-866-275-6464). Be prepared to give them your 7 digit production number, or once it's been assigned, the last 7 characters of the VIN for your MINI. Since they have access to the same order tracking system as your dealer, they can provide the most up-to-date information on the status of your MINI before it departs the UK and after it arrives in the US. The only reasons to call your dealer after you've received a production number is to change or correct the specs on your MINI before it's scheduled for production, or to find out when you can pick it up after it arrives at your dealer.

The following numeric status codes are commonly used internally to track the progress of your MINI:

037 Order is at BMW NA (On Order)
087 Production Week Assigned
097 Order sent to factory
111 Order Accepted at factory
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started (Scheduled for Production)
151 Body Shop Started
152 Paint Shop Started
153 Assembly Started
155 Production Completed
160 Released to Distribution
182 Released to Carrie (Awaiting Transportation)
193 Arrived at Port of Exit [RECEIVED AT TERMINAL]
194 Selected for Shipment [LOADED ON VESSEL]
195 Shipped from Port of Exit (En Route)
196 Shipment Arrival [DISCHARGED]

Might as well jump in here... I'm waiting on a PH/B MCS pretty much loaded. Ordered on 6/26 with a week 32 production date. Just hope I get it before my roadtrip vacation in September!

Welcome, Tom! If you ordered on the 26th and are week 32, you probably are already in production. Give (866) ASK.MINI a call and find out! Just give them your production number.

I have a vin!!!  Just another step in the process but none the less it is great excitement. As far as the wait some people are discussing there are lots of reasons, I actually chose my week at my dealer (Westchester MINI). Steve my MA has been great!! They have a great allotment b/c they are owned by BMW, and I did not want a car produced during the first cycle just so all the kinks would be worked out on the new lines so we decided on the time frame. Also now with the converts going down the line it puts a damper on the coupes because they are assembeled differently obviously and the demand for them has surpassed the coupes so I believe more of them are taking a step ahead of us and they are doing it in chunks. I have gathered bits and pieces of that info from a lot of different places but I think it makes a great deal of sense!

Exciting to hear a lot of people are moving down the line now and may be on the same boat over!! Good to have some friends on a long journey!!

just curious, how many people here ordered from Classic Mini? also, how many are awaiting transport from Classic to the west coast? just wondering how much the shipping would be since the more cars = less shipping charges......

I called ask-mini today and found out my car is schedualed for week 33. I ordered it on June 05th. This is my first post, but have been lurking, and learing for a while (well since may any way). I love this site.

Anyone find out what the deal is with getting a rear fog light installed? I know that the cars will have a black piece of plastic filling the location but has anyone heard if there is a kit yet? In Cali. it is illegal so we get no light. The stupid black piece will drive me nuts and there will be a blank spot in the switch bank unless my dealer can wire the driving lights there!!!

This sucks...

I called ASK MINI today and spoke to a live person expecting them to tell me that my car had chnged status because all of the other people scheduled for week 32 production have been going into production. What does she tell me? That the week has been moved back to week 33!! I see what they mean now, that sometimes being able to track your car can drive you NUTS!!

I've read there will be a dealer installed kit available, but of course it's just not out yet. I don't think anyone in the US has even taken delivery of an 05 yet.
It should be available by September/October... and I agree with you but even worse than the black plate will be that missing toggle switch on the dash! It's on my list along with the ipod adapter....

Hi asaulo1,

I ordered from Julie at Classic, great experience. I'll be getting my car shipped to the west coast with a bunch of others, according to Julie. She said normally it can be up to $1800 if one person wants it shipped! But with this many it should be around $1100-1200... Still a lot, but the company doing the shipping is one of the best in the market.

Where are you?

AAAMini and 4wheeldrift,

Where are you located? or more precisely, to which port are your Minis being delivered?

I am getting a west coast (Port Hueneme) delivery and am somewhat keeping track of fellow anxious new Mini owners that have to track through the Panama Canal!

I just talked to ASK MINI and I'm scheduled for a week 34 production MCS Hyper Blue/ White!

For tracking my production # is 74666xx

Best thing is I had thought I was going to be produced end of September not end of August! Today is excellent!

Curiosity

How many times in an average day do you check...

NAM
ASKMINI
OL
MINI2

I check NAM off and on throughout the day - at least 10 times.
I check ASKMINI once a day, twice if it's on the weekend and they're updating information.
I check the OL twice a day, once when I first get up and once before I got to bed.
I check MINI2 a few times each day too.

Just wondering if anyone else is addicted yet...

Looks like I am just going to squeeze in for August....Week 35!
I think my port is Charleston! WOOHHOOO! I am so excited!

How long does it take from Production to Delivery? I have this bad feeling that it is going to be delivered while we are in the Carribean! How could I ever enjoy that vacation knowing "Pete" is here waiting for me!

As usual I check up on all things MINI:smile: and it has come to my attention that all the MINI's that have arrived in the US that are model year 2005 have been held up at the VDC (vehicle distribution center) none have passed through as of yet . Many people are saying that delivery dates have been pushed back to around September. There are many possible causes for this that can explain this: EPA testing the new model year cars and new engine management systems, the newly designed convertible needs to go through all US testing. Another idea that has been mentioned is the fact that the US model year does not get released by MINI NA until sometime in early August so they may just be holding all the cars at port until the release date and then begin the processing and subsequent testing. So what I am trying to say is that people that are supposed to get the cars sooner are going to get them later and we may still get ours the first week in Sept, or a bottleneck may occur at the VDC. Sorry to push the possible bad news. Sorry if this post is a ramble but I just went with the flow!!
