So, from those of you who have actually completed production, how long does it take for the WW site to have a record of your VIN? I realize that there's a possibility that Katie may not got on WW, but still, I'd like to think that she will (track-ability = added security for me :smile.

My VIN was on the WW site as soon as I got off the phone with MINIUSA, who still had me listed as en route to port of exit.

Interestingly, the reservation for my VIN was listed as July 7, even though I don't think the VIN for my MINI yet existed then.

 

I believe my VIN worked at WW the day my car finished production. Not that it does me any good when tons of people whose cars finished production later than mine are going to be in the US sooner!!

As of today's check with Ask Mini, The Car will be completed late today or tomorrow. That's 2 days ahead of the estimated date of completion. It looks like "Katie" and The Car may actually arrive together.

 

Had you tried to track it at an earlier time?

I hadn't actually thought of trying earlier. In fact, I had checked production earlier in the week, and was still "completed paint shop". I wasn't told I was complete until today, but WW says that I arrived at Southhampton yesterday, so might well be worth checking even before MINIUSA says you're done.

Besides, we can never have enough MINI-related websites to look at!

Nothing for Katie says she's hit the paint shop yet. I dropped a note off to my MA yesterday asking for a status update. I've been checking WW since the day I got my VIN...

Del, if you finish tomorrow, The Car might be lucky enough to catch the ship on the 11th. I'm still looking at a Aug 10th birthday for Katie so I doubt she'll make that ship.

I suppose there is an outside chance, but I'm thinking the 13th is more realistic. Although considering the wait mlebeau has had that may be optimistic also.

 

Just to tell all of you checking WW like crazy, My vin did not show up there until the day my car arrived at the port, one day after my car was completed. In reality it could sit in oxford for a few days before being transferred to the port via truck. The whole tracking thing is not a science at all, it is very random but a live person definately is more accurate than anything online.

Well, my car is done and booked on the Isolde, due to arrive in New York on 8/19. My daughter and I will take the train up to MOTH to pick it up. Then the ferry to Bridgeport to visit my Mom and sister. A real expotition!Anyone else on the Isolde (voyage EA431-ISO?)

 

WW lists my car on that ship as well. Hopefully it'll actually make it on. I pick mine up at Keeler in Albany when it's done, but I'm out of town on vacation for a week starting 8/27

 

I've been moved up to week 34!

 

Just off the phone with ASK-MINI. My car is in production with estimated completeion date of 8/17 got my VIN

Good: I'm closer to get the mini!
Bad: I can't change the specs anymore!lol!

Okay, so I called AskMini just now and was told that my MC will begin production on 8/15/04. The last time I called I was told it was in production. The person I spoke with told me that was wrong and that I should not call back until 8/16 as there will not be an update on my car until then.

 

Last week when I talked to AskMini I was told The Car had begun production July 29, but then when I talked with them again this week I was told that "begin production" meant that the parts were being lined up and prepared for the production line, the actual assembly would begin soon after that. So it seems that organizing the parts is considered "in production" although actual assembly starts later. When I heard "begin production" I envisioned the robots welding metal.

It appears that the estimated date of completion is a better indicator of where on the line your car is. After the 10 hours in the paint shop, which was a week after the "begin production" date in my case, assembly completion seems to go pretty quickly.
