R53 Throttle body not fully opening?
Hello,
Been lurking around the site for a while and this is directed at the shop guys who wrench on these a lot more than I do.
A customer brought their R53 in complaining about intermittent "sluggish" acceleration. After putting some miles on the car it finally acted up for me so I connect my Snap-On brick and found the throttle body only registering 91% at full throttle.
I dont have another throttle body to test with, and I'm not a fan of the "throw parts at it until it works" approach. I'd like to test the values at the pedal and throttle body but I cant find any info about procedures or values. Can anyone out there send a little help/advice my way?
Thanks,
Benny

Any error codes?
If you search this forum for ECU reset, you'll find this is a tremendously useful tactic for restoring driveability and power to the engine. The adaptation values get wacked out after a while and cause all sorts of weird stuff to happen. Try it and see if it runs better or if you can get the throttle to open wider. But, don't expect 100% WOT. I've never seen this value when trolling around with a scan tool on a German car.

I checked for codes before resetting the ECU. No codes, which seems to be pretty common with these. I then did the 19, 21 reset with the key.
boost seems study so I don't think its the bypass valve. I can't remember how many pounds exactly. it's definitely one of the stranger things I've seen with any car. Sometimes full throttle full and sometimes it doesn't feel any different than half throttle. I'm just trying to figure out if its the throttle body itself or if its not getting signal from the pedal.
