I got almost the same thing on a quick stop at a local shop....I left and didn't go back. To set the scene, my hood is up during the following exchange:

First guy: "Hey Bill, lookit this, recognize anything?"

Bill: "It's a neon! I thought these things were BMWs!"

Nothing wrong with the "Neon motor" comment though.....

I've learned to accept that by now.

Not the Dodge Neon sold in the US. I believe the European market Neon's have the same engine.

Oh, that's not so bad then. I used to sell Dodges Chryslers and Jeeps and man did I loathe those cars.

Redneck in pickup: Hey dude, do you know that's a gay guy's car?
Me: Are you saying that to put me down, or because you want to ask me out?
Redneck *confused* : Uh, ****** you then!
Me: Oh! So you DO want to ask me out!

(light turns green, MCS leaves pick up back at the stop light)

Next time it happens, just let him know that guys who drive MINIs don't need to compensate for their shortcomings!

I recall someone posted a picture of a US Neon engine bay, and even though it is not the same engine as the MC, they look extremely similar. (same basic design, plastic covers look the same, etc) To anyone who is familiar with Chrysler engines, they would definitely recognize the engine in the MC.

But like I said, there is nothing wrong with the Neon motor. The worst part is the engine software, but that was not Chrysler's responsibility. Siemens was/is responsible for the engine computers and software, and they are a German company.

When I was golfing, a guy that was parked next to me in his Tahoe said that it must be nice to have a car that can be driven to the course and then used as a golf cart.

Or that can be driven for more than a week

without having to stop for a $45 fill-up.
