In less than 5 hours I'll be signing the paperwork for my car, now if only I could sleep.

I've made 5 mix CDs for the car so far and still can't sleep. Incidently does anyone know if the standard '05 CD player will play MP3 encoded CDs? I've read conflicting reports and haven't had a clear answer from the dealer or 866-ASK-MINI.

My MINI should be at the VDC. The ship arrived yesterday. Nothing OL has updated or changed. Can anyone report on if the WW site changes and shows that the car was off loaded? My EDD has been showing 10/21 for several days now I hope that it holds true. If so Thursday will be a great day.

Folks,

It has been fun waiting with you. I just took delivery on my new mini today. I still have to wait for the JCW and s few smaller items, but decided that the car could just as easily wait with me as it could with the dealer. Go no swag of any kind with delivery. Not even a key chain. I am not surprised as I probably upset the dealer by insisting that they return my phone calls. I know it is unreasonable of me to expect return calls from a dealer where I am paying over 30 K for a product, but thats the way I am.

Anyway the car looks great, runs better, with still more to come.

Motor on
Phil

PS - Congrats to Patrick and Lois on their deliveries as well.

This car is unbelievable. I have never had so much fun with a machine. I keep throwing it into corners faster and faster, and despite my fears, she just eats up the turns. my dad drove it and said "its a sports car, its solid. I thought it was on par with our aerio..." he was stunned and very pleased.

breakin is going smoothly enough, 270 miles approx now. I cant fathom what the power must be like once the restrictions are gone. Its already incredible and I only have half the tach to play with. my heel-toe shifting is already improving after a day and a half with it. its amazing how much less the brakes are used compared to an auto. so much more control this way.

Oh and the people are looking. smiles, stares, tongues on the pavement. there are only a few others around the area so its still very unique on these roads. Have yet to see a cooper in passing while im in mine.

This is too much fun. Thanks for all of the support and encouragement along the way, and congrats to all of those who have taken delivery or will soon. we need to keep in touch, everyone!

Patrick

btw, is everyone else taking their MINI's keys with them everywhere they go?? upstairs, downstairs, walk the dog, when you are going out in someone else's car??

First, congrats on surviving the long wait.

I feel your pain with the dealer issues. Personally, I've never spent this much on a car and have high expectations for it. I have had a hell of a time getting my MA/dealer to return my calls and e-mails, I usually have to continue to "ring them up" until I am able to get in touch with someone. I understand that these folks are busy because these cars practically sell themselves, but GEEZ, whatever happened to customer service?

BTW, mine should be hitting dry land again here in the next few days!! Should take delivery sometime during the last week of Oct.

I added some pictures to my gallery. Freshly washed and waxed, outside of the dealer's showroom and under natural light!

I am LOVING this car.

Drove about as much of that break in period up as I could this weekend, and it was a blast. I am having the time of my life in this car, even just costing along at the speed limit with the cruise control doing the work is incredibly enjoyable in my MINI. Nestled cozy, warm, and dry in my garage, with it raining and thundering today I'm thinking of driving my old car to work. Is that unreasonable? My wife would be angry at the very notion of babying the car like that.

I'd like to give a good, hard slap to the fellow who questioned whether or not these thing are "sports cars." It looks, sounds, smells, and drives like a sports car. Hmmm, must be a sports car! Besides, I now have it on good authority, from every sports car aficionado in the last generation of my family, that this is a sports car. I didn't hear it refered to as anything else all weekend, except for the women. For some reason, cousins, aunts sisters, mother and all found it necessary to call my car "cute." "Oh it's so cute," they would say. Women...

Oh yeah, pictures:

Talked to my MA and he thinks we will have our MINI by this weekend. Started lining up the insurance today. Now I just need the check from the credit union and will be all set. We talked about the programming options today so that is all set also. Can't wait for the weekend.

Congratulations to AppleCello, iamwiz82, Avitor and Teampajn!! All beautiful Minis!!

I'm especially glad to see Teampajn's pictures. I haven't seen many pictures of the Purple Haze color and it's good to see what my car will look like!

My MA left a voice message and told me they expect to get my car in a week. Weeee!!

What kind of stuff do you get to program on a new Mini? I'm hoping to talk to my MA tomorrow about all that stuff.

Mine should be here within that timeframe too, but I'll probably have to call my MA.

Were you on the Liberty (Faust)?

I never did figure out what ship brought mine across. Couldn't get the shipping company web page to bring up the search function for me.

That site (at least for me) has been completely down for days

I was hoping to learn when my was scanned off, but no such luck. I called ASKMINI, they said they cannot track them once they get on the boat. He suggested I call my MA -- who is on his day off today.

Here's hopin' that Saturday is the day!

NOt sure mine is now showing 10/21 so hope it is right. The MA says it is but has not seen it on his availability sheet yet. He says still hope to get it before the weekend.

The W&W shipping site was up today in a new format.

Thanks! I had bookmarked the site that was based on IP address only and it no longer worked. The new site is much better (look and feel anyway)!
