Tackling a p2096

Hey fellas, I have my stupid p2096 on. I was wondering if anyone knew of any areas to also check.

I replaced the mid pipe gasket and the manifold gasket recently.

the manifold gasket was replaced with an aftermarket header. mid pipe gasket was replaced two weeks ago.

my next step is to check my 02 sensors and see if they are dirty and seated right.

but my car ran without this code with the header for a month, until minis on top when it got cool at night. figured that's when the mid pipe gasket gave up, and I was right. replaced the mid pipe gasket and the code disappeared for 30 min, until I went into auto zone to get oil for my motorcycle, then it popped up again

Check out this thread on NAM. Post #4, provides links to 2 other threads with some good info. Maybe check them out and see if they help at all.

Look at post #5 here. He has an '05 as well. Continue reading after that post. Post #32 here has some good info as well. There's a lot of information in that thread that may be helpful or may be irrelevant in your case, but at least it can give you some ideas.

Mine was affecting performance, I couldn't even move the car a couple feet since it was running really badly. In my case, it was a cracked intercooler boot, air was getting in and messing the a/f ratio, making it run lean as hell. It's most likely not your issue tho, looks more like an exhaust leak or something tricking the sensor into thinking the car is running lean.

im thinking it has to be something stupid, I had this same issue when I installed a cat back, I pulled the rear sensor and sprayed it with carb clean, haven't had the issue, but that was bank 2 sensor lean, not bank 1.

I wonder if I could do that to the top one, granted that's a bit tougher to get too.
