What tires come with the R84 X-lites?
I just checked with ask-mini to confirm my spec for the MCSC I have on order and was a little disappointed to find out that the dealer did not place the right order on the wheels. I want the R84 X-lites but it looks like the 7 fin default wheels. Does anyone know which tires come with the R84 wheels on the '05 MCS or MCSC?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I am not sure what tire but I would love to have those wheels,:smile: I tried everything i could to get them but they were a dealer installed option and they want too much for them. I have an MCS, I have the Xlites and the S-lites. I bought the Xlites with snow tires on them so I can not help you . Why do you not want the 7 spokes?

I do believe the R84's are the V-spokes/X-lites. I just like the looks of them a little better than the 7 spoke wheel that comes as the default. I wonder if I can get them with the performance run-flats? It may be that the all-season run-flats are the only option with those wheels though.
Cooper4us, How have the all season run-flats been holding up for you. The dealer was saying that the all season tires wear out a lot quicker then the performance tires.
- Thanks

Aloha and welcome to NAM.
New MINIs sometimes will come with Goodyear RSA runflats in 17" for the MCS but in the past here is what has come with the R84 16x6.5" X-lyte wheels-
OEM run flat tires:
195/55-16 TIRE WEIGHT
Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 EMT 22.6lb (10.3kg) P,C
Dunlop SP Sport 3000A DSST 23.6lb (10.7kg) P,C
Dunlop SP Sport 5000A DSST 23.5lb (10.7kg) A,S(*)
P = performance (summer) tire
A = all-season tire
C = Cooper
S = Cooper S

My tires have held up so far so good. I have 11K miles on them and they are wearing down quite nicely so I expect them to last me hopefully for another 14K to 19K. The Dunlops have pretty good wet traction and fairly decent dry pavement performance. I don't find them to be noisy at all either.
I typically keep them inflated at 36-39 PSI cold for shaper handling. Ride quality is great with the SS+ suspension setup in the MCS and no problems in terms of nails, punctures or anything at all. Very good tires overall.
I personally prefer the look and lighter weight of the R84 V-spokes vs the 17" S-Lites that everybody and thier mother seem to get in the MCS. In my club, I am the only one with V-spokes, everyone else has R90s (Another nice rim) and S-Lites.
The MINI was designed to perform best (Ride/handling) with either 15" or 16" tires and rims. I think the MINI achieves perfect balance with 16" size tires and wheels.
I would also think that Performance rubber tends to wear faster than all season rubber. Another aspect that I like about these tires is the 55 profile versus the lower and more prone to damage 45 profile in the 17" tires.
If you have any other questions, fee free to ask.

Just to clarify... The 17" S-Lites are not standard equipment in the MCS. The bigger and heavier S-lites are either a standalone $500 option or come as part of the MCS sport package ($1,300). The standard tires and rims in the MCS are the R84 16" V-spokes.
The 17's are quite popular in the MCS, hence most buyers believe that they come as standard in the MCS when they are an additional cost option from the factory.
