Auto x car build
I've got a r56s and r60 with a few mods but my wife and I are going to build a autox car/ track car. Any pointers on the engine build? Car Ive got is a 02 and has a blown engine from lack of oil ( bought that way) and getting another donor engine with 70k miles and I already have another SC with a m7 16% pulley. So that will make 3 SC lol. Any thoughts on running a 2% crank pulley since it won't be a daily driver? Should I run the lower end like it is or is there any thing other than a windage tray oil pan. Does port n polish do these heads any good? And a camshaft suggestion, and do they offer a good roller cam setup? And thinking on a aluminum flywheel. But if I run a alum flywheel and a non dampening crank pulley it worries me for the crank vibrations. Thanks for any input

It depends on what your goal is with the auto x car. If you want to win a championship, you probably don't want to run the smaller SC pulley/larger crank pulley which would take you out of stock class. If you just want to go out and have fun, mod away. One note: if HPDE track time is part of the equation, I would skip the larger crank pulley and stick with a 15% pulley to keep the supercharger closer to its efficiency range.

+1 what class , how many mods within that class you can do.

If it's an AutoX/Track car start with maint. like bushings first. Then think suspension you will get way more out of your car with suspension and an LSD than what the HP will be worth. I always say give me a non S with suspension and brakes and I'll beat you at the track any day.
But figure out for AutoX what the rules will allow you to do as that will focus the direction and budget.
Do NOT put the lightweight crank pulley on your car it is bad for your engine and won't give you gains your looking for. We would use an ATI damper as that is a weak point of the stock R53 engine.
Cylinder head can make good power, but will be a big chuck of a budget.
Cam can make good torque as we have our own WMW cam that works great.
The rockers are already roller rockers so no need to convert.

Thanks for the replies. Yes suspension will be gone through. I do need to sit down and read all the pages in the rule book. This will be strictly for fun the first year and maybe dial it back and run for competition the following year. We have a track 45 min away. I want to roll bar it out just because I can and to be safe for her on the track.

as far as COMPETITIVE goes, it's not competitive in any class right now for the S.
with that in mind, if the region competes on index, your best bet at doing decently there is in DS, which means - shocks, RSB, and bumpstops - that's it. running a well prepped DS R53 is going to be about 95% of the fun (and speed) of whatever else you do to that car, especially considering it won't make THAT much power and you'll be heavily punished in index, especially if u jump to a race tire class.
If it were me, I'd start in DS, and then work your way up as (if) you get bored.
