2005 Mini S Bearing on pass cv joint?

I own a 2005 mini coop s and have owned it from 2010 , a year ago there was a noise that started up front passenger side wheel area and I figured it was brake or rotor, let it go for another 6 - 8 months now its very very noisy inside the cabin and the cv joint looks good on both boots, has 75,000 miles on it and has new brakes new rotors was about replace the cv joint shaft passenger side, but my friend noticed that there is some sort of bearing housing that the cv joint holds up, it had some shavings all around this bearing housing, not sure what part it is called but it is bolted to the transfer case right before the shaft goes into clutch, does any body know what this is called or part or part number and know of any sites that shows how to replace? even replacing the cv joint as I know that has to come out as well?

This is the carrier bearing and does not have a part number. It comes with the driveshaft. Many aftermarket or rebuilt drive shafts don't come with the bearing bracket. The bracket must be removed and reinstalled on the new bearing that it pre-installed on the driveshaft. I hope your bracket is still good. Or you my may have to buy a used driveshaft to get a good bracket.

thank you so much for the quick reply, the bracket looks fine at this point have not attempted to remove the cv shaft and the bracket itself looks fine but at this point not sure if the bearing in it has disintegrated or not, my friend used a stethoscope and used it to listen to all of the parts and this bearing bracket area had the most noise coming from it. Is there (besides buying a manaul) any place on this forum or on the net that would show the steps to remove the cv joint and reinstall? I am totally a novice and before attempting replacing would like to know more about how to do it.

Removing the drive shaft is super easy as demonstrated in the video. Remove tire, have someone step on brake, remove driveshaft nut, remove 2 screws on bottom ball joint to the control arm. Remove carrier bearing bracket bolts, slide out axle.
