Data logging on r53
So I've been thinking, and I'd love to know what lil Earl is up to while I'm flying around town. I've searched the forums and googled, but I can't really come up with a "how to" straight answer on how to accomplish this. In my mind I would have a harness plugged into the obdII port, run to a laptop, running "data logging software". I have never done this, but I had a buddy that races Harleys and used to data log his trips around town in varying conditions, to his laptop in a back pack to review later.
So I'd like to do the same with Earl. My first question is: is thus a thing for an R53, or am I just having a seizure?
My second question is: if it is a thing, what do I need, where can I get more model specific info, and where do I get the necessary equipment? (3 question combo!)
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Sly,
If this is your first time attempting something like this, the easiest and most cost effective way to dip your toe in these waters is to buy the Torque Pro app for Android for under ($10) (maybe they have for iphone, I dont know) and then search "OBDII Bluetooth" on amazon and purchase one of the inexpensive (under $25).
That app will log data and let you export/offload it, and the setup is as "Plug ad Play" as such an endeavor could possibly be.
It's going to take an hour or so of tinkering with it to learn the app and get the adapter connected, maybe less, but it is a rewarding hour spent once it works, it's like magic watching your RPMS and Coolant temps and boost/vac. etc, update in real time wirelessly to your smart phone.
I just bought an R53 2005 S this weekend and hooked up the bluetooth adapter i already had, it worked great.
