Sway bar link question. Pleeease help

So I installed coilovers on my R50 yesterday. I had to get new adjustable front sway bar links due to the mount being different.
My question is, is how do I know what length to adjust the links too? I installed them yesterday by prying down the main sway bar and forcing them in (I know, mistake). They are making tons of noise at every bump.
Am I supposed to take off the links from both front sides, then let the main sway bar go down into its natural position? Then adjust the links to that length? Or is it supposed to be higher?
Thanks in advance for any help. I appreciate it.

I believe when the car is sitting on the ground for a road car you want the swarbar to be horizontal to the mounting points. for people who race they add a bit of negative angle to them to increase the preload on the bars

^^This^^

But if you are going to set the suspension right you need to corner balance the car via adjustable endlinks and a special scale setup. Without corner balancing the car will be uneven in the corners and the benefits of going to a coilover setup would be negated.

Thanks for your reply. What Im trying to figure out exactly is am I supposed to take off both front links (with the car lifted) andblet the main sway bar go to its natural low position? And then adjust the links from where they sit naturally? Or am I supposed to preload (lift/pry the main bar up) and mount the links shorter?

Right now I have the links shorter and they are making a ton of noise. Both sides. I cant shake the thought that they are too short and I was supposed to let the main bar fall naturally. But I cant find any info on that.

For now I just want the noise to go away. I drive the car about 3 miles a week. So I can adjust the specific cornering a little later.

Thanks for your reply. Sway bar to be horizontal to which mounting points? Sorry, just trying to understand completely. And so if I adjust the main sway bar with the vehicle lifted, is that its position when on the ground and under load?

easiest to be said on the rear sway bar, horizontal like it would be sitting on the ground. with the wheels off the ground, there would be a load happening. but you can also find out the difference in height with the springs, then translate that to the height needed for the endlinks. (roughly) a couple deg doesn't make a whole lot of difference, its when you start getting to like 5-10 deg there will be
