Ok I will do that. I have to work on my MINI in the parking lot of my apartment building since I no longer have a garage. Do you think its ok to leave the parts like the ecu disconnected for a long period of time as long as the hood is shut. I just dont want water getting in there and messing with the computer or ecu.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to give a little more background about Barnaby and whats going on. I was contacted by memo79 who said he would give me a had to try and find this problem. I called MINI to get the final PDF report sent over and the tech and the report are totally different. The final verdict is that the hose between the heater core and the thermostat is leaking. It is fairly easy to remove the alta COI I have so tonight when it cools down I am going to remove the air intake and air box, then have a look around for any ripped, torn or damaged hoses. I will also check the thermostat and housing while I am in there! I will keep you all posted tmrw when I get a better look at it. Thanks for helping and thanks to NAM I was able to find a local friend to lend a hand! Life is good!

I was able to get some time to remove the air box and a few other things in the way of the plastic piece and hoses that are leaking. I snapped a pic below of the place where the coolant is leaking out. Right where my finger is pointing is a Y shaped plastic piece that is broken. The tap where my finger is connects the expansion tank to the Y piece but the tit that the hose goes into snapped off. I am wondering how I can find this piece ? Can anyone help?

Sweet! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. It seems like the best price I can find online by far so I will be ordering here soon!
Is there anything else I should order or be aware of along with that? Also are these the "plastic pieces" the dealer was saying can "melt" when over heated?

They just get brittle and crack over time from heat cycles at the thinnest section. Just get some Blue MINI coolant and you are good to go, I would go through the whole system and check the upper and lower hose, also for high line cracks in the connection the the expansion tank and any other T connection.

Thanks! Yea we tried looking and no luck for me either. I think its a good idea to get all that stuff replaced as it has over heated 2 times and they are all most likely brittle and worn hoses and plastic already!

And the saga continues ..
I received my coolant hose kit from ECS today along with the MINI coolant so I went out and removed the intercooler, bypass valve, and a few things that are in the way of the coolant hoses I want to replace this weekend. As I was removing the bypass valve I began to see oil dripping out of the intercooler, horn, and bypass valve. I don't think this is normal so I snapped some pics and posted them on here. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and if not what is going on??

100% normal....
It will vary based on your driving style, oil type, and how you use your car.
Don't stress it....
Remember, the PCV system is routed so blow-by gasses which includes vaporialzed oil, moisture, and exaust gets put back into the intake and supercharger, to get re-compressed and re-burnt....
Some folks installed "catch cans" but they often caused more trouble than they are worth since they need to be emptyied regularly, and depending on the mounting location, it is often too hot of a spot to actually catch much....
It is FINE.
