R50/53 water in engine

water in engine

after hurricane mathew oct 8 i accidentally drove through an area of water maybe 4 inches deep and stalled in the middle the car hasnt started since despite drying out in the sun with the bonnet open for 4 days it basically just clicks with all the warning lights on when i turn the key. any ideas on what is still wet and what can be done?

Did water get in the interior? Did you check you battery connections or try jumping it?

both intakes are by the windshield, unless you got some electrical conection wet theres no way your hydrolocked

How fast were you driving? did water splash up into the engine compartment? I have seen engines blow up from getting water in the intake but I think it's much more likely that you have a battery/electrical issue.

Shoot, man. A couple of months into ownership of my R53, driving at night, I accidentally drove into water deep enough to come halfway over the bonnet. I thought I was hosed but stayed steady on the gas and slowly pushed through it. Despite my sense of dread there were no negative affects. Other than I had to clean a lot of debris out of my grill. HaHa
