Brake Lights stay on!!

Hey guys, so I have brake lights that will not turn off on my cousins 2002 mini cooper s. Once the key is in the ignition they go on, once out they turn off just fine. So I replaced the brake switch, no luck. Checked the diode on the right hand side of the car, it was fine, no luck there. Took the battery out to see if I could reset the computers with a new brake switch in there, again no luck. This car is a surprise for my cousin, My uncle and I are trying to get the brakes lights to work so we can surprise her. Anyone have any suggestion? Thank you for reading and any advice in advanced

Pull the headliner back a bit on the passengers side to see if the sunroof drain is still connected, highly common for the drains to fall off and allow water to drain into the passenger foot well and damage the body control module.

You'd have to pull the passenger kick panel to remove the BCM and manually inspect it, many times you can see corrosion on the lower connectors to the BCM without removing the module.

Some times you get codes stored for a bunch of stuff in the BCM, but other times there aren't any codes stored.
