Crank, No Start, Clicking Relay

'08 Cooper S. Crank, no start. No fuel, no spark. Clicking R1 relay.

Swapped R1 and R3 to no avail. Still clicks.

Any thoughts?

did you try to jump it

sounds like the battery is too low ... not dead ... you may see a bunch of electrical activity .... BUT

remember these cars do EVERYTHING thru the computer. In olden days you would turn the key on a car with a weak battery and hear some groaning ... or leading up to this point a 'weak crank sound'

Now, the computer decides if the car is ready to start and controls the fuel flow and how long the starter cranks ,,,, you just ASK the car's computer to start when you turn the key or hit the button!!!!!

If the battery is more than 3 years old I think we have your problem or I owe you one donut ......

p.s. 08 - S hardtop is GEN2 ........ you posted in the wrong place. Not slapping your wrist .... future questions will get better looks in the correct forum .....
{the rag tops lagged behind the hardtops in their move to the GEN2 body}
