When BMW took over and sold the Rover company, which first started the MINI creation, BMW wanted to also add their own style to it as much as possible. Thus in the process of new identity for the project, the name of the new style MINIs is capitalized to separate it from the classic Minis.

If you want to learn more about the history of the original classic Mini (And fully understand today's MINI), I highly recommend reading over this EXCELLENT website that details everything you ever wanted to know about the Mini:
http://www.minipassionmini.50megs.com/gb/
It has tons of pics, old ads, memorabilia, etc, etc.
The mini is a world waiting to be discovered! Enjoy!
PS: Check out our club website for pics of members that own some very beautiful and neat looking classic Minis.
