Take heart,I had a full size 3/4 ton Chevy pickup when Katrina hit-it was sold soon after- I would start the filling and it would cut off at $50. I would then have to re-swipe my card and continue for another $15 more. That was reg unleaded and it was about $2.50 then, damn thing had a big tank (26 gal) and got a whopping 10-12 mpg in town and a HUGE 15 hwy. I still don't know why I owned that thing. I got to enjoy that experiance every 10 days, my gas bill was actually higher than my payment.

Well let me just embarrass myself and the great state of Texas.

I don't have a clue what the price of gas is right now...I just fill Scarlett up when her tummy starts to growl.

i had about 20 miles or so left. got gas at $2.99 and filled it up until 13.2? gallons. around there. total was around $39...about THEE most i have EVER spent on gas.
but then again..that wasn't the cheapest gas station..it was $2.84 across the street..but to get there..took over 5 minutes..and plus i had to get to work. so forgive my laziness.

Still cheaper than 2% organic milk by the gallon. $3.09 at Hess (the Hessamart) in Fishkill NY, for petrol (!) that is. Yum. 93%. Much tastier than 2% any day. Happy Friday the 13th!

Earlier today, I paid $28.00 to fill up. Put in 9.3G @ $2.99. Most I've paid is around $37.00 and that was at around 1/4-1/2 tank when gas prices were pushing around $3.50/gallon.

Quite honestly though, I'm not complaing about gas prices because we Americans are lucky to get the prices that we do. I'll still be driving the same amount (Hey, probably less cars on the road. Could go for a peaceful drive ) even if prices were to go up to 4-5 bucks/gallon.

okay, hold on to your bonnet NAMers... i just drove back from SF after going out to Vegas for AMVIV... gas prices were all over the place.

In Needles, California, they were price gouging at $4.09/gallon . fortunately I didn't have to fill the entire tank. still 9.759 gallons cost $40.00. actually that's when I stopped filling up. I meat to just fill up a little bit and then get more later, but I got distracted and forgot.

by the way, this was with 91 octane, which seems to be the highest you can get on I-40. I always fill up with 93 octane here in Memphis.

one other story, i miscalculated and almost ran out of gas once... i thought I had enough or would make it to a gas station, but ended up going through a pass somewhere in Arizona... and I watched the range computer go all the way down to 0... and I was not happy, but I made it to the gas station. I'll never do that again, because I don't want to screw up the car by running out. but obviously the computer fortunately leaves some room for mistakes like this.

93 octane peaked at around $3.10-3.15 in the Tampa area during the last run-up in prices. After the few months of relief we got, I got used to paying $2.70 or so for a while there. But in the last 4-6 weeks, we've gone back up. Premium prices are running $2.98 to $3.10 around here now, coming close to new records for our area. I never did manage to squeeze $40 worth in, but I see it coming soon.

You folks who are already paying 3 and a half bucks per gallon have my sympathies. Ugh.

I've only had my MINI 3 weeks and it has cost me $40+ to fill it each time. This is the only thing I miss about my V6 Accord ...not only was it faster, but it ran great on 89 octane and got better gas mileage too.

But, it was no fun.

dean.

Oh, the humanity...where's the public outrage! I say, everyone should write their Congressperson and demand an inquiry into BIG DAIRY! I bet they're bringing in more than a 9% profit margin.

Amen, brother...pedal to the metal! If it gets 4-5 bucks a gallon, the SUV may park for a while (it does still have it's occasional use), but I'll still be driving the same amount in the MINI.

And I thought the $37 I put in yesterday (at $2.97/gal) was bad

Well, it IS bad for this area...

I'm due to fill up this weekend---not looking forward to paying the $2.85/gallon. This will be the most I've paid so far. (But after reading through the posts here, I don't feel so bad.)

The journey continues anyway.....HAPPY MOTORING EVERYBODY!

With 643 miles on the new MINI, I put 12.8 gallons for $35.70! That's about the most I have ever spent filling a MINI. I expect the prices to go up a little more, right now, super-unleaded in Old Town Alexandria is averaging $3.09/gallon or so. Also, check www.gaspricewatch.com. It's a fun site and helps you find the best prices on gas if you are getting ready for a long trip. It also allows you to post your price findings of your favorite stations.

But we have other choices to drink...and our MINIs don't run on milk or oj.

I was shocked that prices weren't better on my drive across the US last week. I figured that prices would drop a lot once I crossed the CA line and drove into AZ, but it was not that much less. Best prices I saw was $2.999/gallon in Quartzite, AZ and then again near Biloxi, Mississippi.

My technique to avoid sticker shock at the pump: I fill up whenever it gets to halfway mark on the fuel gauge. Less painful that way.

I just filled up at lunch...

$3.05 a Gallon here in Northeast Ohio. (I was able to save $0.10 with my grocery shopping discount from Giane Eagle)

Total bill: $31.00 for 10.478 gallons (saved 1.05)

The cost of driving to work has gone up!!! I reset the Avg Consumption from 32.2, and my commute is 35 miles one way. I can't wait till they make us work virtual and I can save $$ and miles...

Working at Home

You might save $ on gas but your commute won't be quite as stylish! See and be seen! Isn't that part of the fun? To spend $ on your MINI? And one of that awesome color, too! Happy Friday the 13th!

I got no problem filling the mini up... It's the Trailblazer that costs $50.00 every time we go to a gas station and it takes the cheap stuff!!! (and we don't pass too many gas stations in it either...)

Yea, I like the orange...

I once was able to put 13.3 into the car and was amazed as it only has a 12+ tank. The fill tube etc. must really be substantial .
