Two Week Wait (~) for Service?

I called my local dealership (in Sacramento) today to make an appointment for a simple little fix. The earliest they could fit me in was two weeks from today--well, two weeks minus one day, but you get the idea. Can you believe that ???

I guess that's what monopolies do to you. So to speak.

Any other areas experiencing this kind of wait?

It's the same here on the east coast. 2-3 week wait at one local dealer in the DC metro area, even for simple things like the 10K oil service.

Same here in So Cal at Brecht - we waited over a month for an appointment one time. The problem is - the MINIs share the service bays with the BMWs and there are only 6 bays!!! I know that Brecht is in the process of expanding to help eliminate the problem....

Chow!

I made an appointment for Nick Alexander in mid July for a September service. They actually had one opening in the last week of August, but I was going to be out of town--so the next spot was in Sept.

They did a good job, but even with all the notice of the parts that I needed, they still had to order parts after they saw the car, and I still haven't been called to come get them. Talk about service.

Same here in the Pacific

Depending on when you call (and the phase of the Moon)
It is common to wait 2 or even 3 weeks for an appointment.
If you get to know your Service advisor really well you might be able to arrange for being fit in if there is a cancellation. Leave your number and keep bothering (er, reminding them) of your willingness to come in sooner.

Not sure how my Honda dealership can get me in with less than a week or about a week's notice. They might be overbooking and just working overtime to get the work done. If they don't then their competitors will. Not so with my MINI dealership since there is no authorized service competition anywhere within 3000 miles in all directions.

Save for repeated visits for the stumble issue (when I made myself a total thorn in the side of MINI of Pittsburgh's service dept.) I have never waited anything LESS than 2 weeks for service -- and that was without a loaner. The one time I wanted a loaner, I think I waited 3-4 weeks.

It sucks.

I was passing thorugh Las Vegas, they had a 2 week wait for an oil change! I asked them if they would pay for an oil change elsewhere since they could not accomodate their agreement for free oil changes. He pretty much laughed at me and said no, but we'll get you scheduled in 2 weeks.

I don't mean to make you guys feel bad, but......

On Wednesday, I called MINI of Peabody to make an appointment. They told me to come in the next day. I think the fact that their facility is completely separate from their BMW facility helps.

We are very fortunate to have this dealership in our area.

I guess I just got spoiled with my last car.. at least as far as service appointments is concerned. I never had a problem getting a service appointment at the dealership within one day, two at most. Not that I would ever compare my MINI to a Corolla....

So is a week or two the norm with other makes?

Ahh hune, the price of paradise.
I need to schedule my 1 year service, so I'll do it tomorrow (for December when I'm off). I've only driven almost 6k miles in 1 year (as of 30 Oct), so I guess I still better go in. I did have my oil changed at 1250 miles though, but did not know the CVT has oil, so that needs to be changed for sure.
