30k on the odometer, and no 1st inspection yet!
should i be concerned? i mean, i know i do alot of highway driving, but this is getting kinda ridiculous.
i dont exactly drive the car like a softy, though i'm not a menace on the streets either. I just dont know how that friggin "miles to service" works i guess.
i called them and they agreed to do the last inspection (after i do the 1st) before my maintenence warranty runs out at 36k miles. I have 30k on the odometer now, "miles to service" says i have ANOTHER 3500 miles left, and so that means i'll get the service done, and before 2000 miles, i'll have to call and have them do the inspection (but not oil change or anything like that). They'll replace any parts that look worn during both inspections and then i'll have no more maintenence.
I had my first oil change done at around 13k, then i did an oil change on my own at about 20-22k and here i am. honestly, that friggin maintenence computer really sucks. I've had my car since June 2003. I know that they're supposed to do a service every year at least, but i'm going through the mileage too quickly apparently.
hmm... in retrospect, i probably should've asked this a little earlier, huh?
oh well. i can do the worthless oil changes myself anyway.

Ya know I was going to write/call Click & Clack about this. I went 12,000 miles before my first oil change. It just seems crazy. I'm at 20,000 now (bought August 02) and still have thousands (9?) to go before service is due. I was of the old "every 3000 miles" school with all my previous cars but I'm going with their schedule. I just feel funny about it. Hope I don't have a smoky Mini at 100,000 miles!

First inspection at 30k? Definitely "No." You should have taken it to your service rep. and insist on the first inspection a long time ago.
Even the most conservative driver would trigger the "Service Engine light" at (at the most) a couple of thousand miles beyond the 25k miles. I speak from personal experience.

well, i've had my first oil change. i'm not sure if that's what you meant by 1st inspection. but my very first oil change (by mini) was done at 13k. that was... ok.
but i've been waiting for that friggin 1st inspection (which would be the official second oil change by mini) to count down. it's just taking for evaR.
