I don't have any photos yet, but I have the Sirius Starmate Replay (http://tinyurl.com/b6o8k) in my MINI with H/K. Maybe next weekend I'll get around to taking photos, but here's the set-up.

The windshield mount with suction cup fits perfectly into the stock cupholder (the one attached to the downtube of the center console, not the smaller cupholders), so the receiver is located down near the shifter. It has 3 connectors, which make for a not-so-elegant set-up. First, the audio out is connected to my aux input, located underneath the toggle panel (you could avoid this wire by using the built-in FM transmitter). Second, the power cord connects to the lighter. Third, the antenna: I have it on my dashboard, up by the windshield. From there, the wire runs across the top of the dash, down into one of the channels in the silver dash, behind the panel under the steering wheel, down behind the radio, and finally out at the bottom near my aux input (it's not perfect, but it is as unobtrusive as I could make it). I'll PM you when I get photos of it, since that isn't easy to follow!

Wingnut, you have good poi nts about the MLB streams not being used. That doesn't make any sense to me either. But there is no additional paid content on XM. Everyone gets everything. As for MLB programming, I don't mind listening to the other guys as long as I get to listen. For instance, I'm a Braves fan, this year they moved off of WSB which I could get all over the South. Now I can only get them on XM or when I travel. Tallahassee is full of carpetbaggers and doesn't support Southern teams.:impatient Of course I only have one team that I really care a lot about. I also got XM because of the ACC sports.

I like all the talk on XM as well. I just wish they would get Neal Boortz.

Hmmm... when I was a subscriber there were 3 streams that were extra. Opus and Andy were on an "extra cost" stream but was changing to a non-extra-fee stream when I ended my subscription. The second stream I can't remember (so it may be made up in my mind), and the third stream was Playboy. Maybe XM has since made that stream part of its regular line-up, ergo no extra charge. If so, oops! I ended my subscription about the end of Sept.

One of the reasons, besides baseball, that I signed up for XM initially was for Tony Kornheiser. That is a terrific radio show. ( however I have complaints with XM over that too... honestly, I'm not this much of a negative person!)

I think only playboy is extra. Tony K has a sports column in the Washington Post (pretty sure its the Post). He can be funny.

Indeed it's the Post. The TK-Man from DC-Town! I truely miss that show, but can get it online... if I was just savvy enough to turn it into a mp3 for my iPod!

Didn't sound like a good idea. Radio just doesn't do the trick...

...I just read the articles anyway...

XM Content

I've had XM in my truck for 3 years and I love it. I will install it in my MINI too. It's about the only thing I miss when I'm driving my MCSCa. I'm not sure why so many folks are under the impression that there's no NPR on XM, because there's at least one station, along with at least one BBC station. They've added a fair bit of content in the past year so I'm not sure what all is up there now. I always listen to the same few stations that suit my own personal taste, which runs mostly toward alternative. As a mommy from the 'burbs who doesn't get out much, XM has helped turn me onto a lot of bands I otherwise wouldn't have a clue about. It's great because when I read about up and coming bands in the entertainment section of the newspaper I know who they're talking about because I've already heard them on XM.

Also, as far as content goes, Howard Stern is an excellent reason NOT to get Sirius.

Is that stream named XPR or something along those lines?
You XMers have Bob Edwards, which was basically the voice of NPR until they gave him the shaft. I still can't believe NPR fired him. But I don't think you have actual NPR programing (something NPR geeks like myself NEED).

I'm OK with Stern coming aboard... because no one can force me to listen to him!

It's an odd combo, Stern and NPR (PRI too)... kinda like the radio Odd Couple.

The NPR offering on XM is not as complete as it could/should be.

Basically, we get: Bob Edwards, Whad'ya know, Sound Check, This American Life, On Point, NewHour w/ Jim Lehrer, and some other programs. Noticeably absent are Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Prarie Home Companion among others.

But it is very nice to hear Bob Edward's doing in-depth interviews. The morons at NPR should have never let him go. Wonder if some politics had anything to do with it (lots of recent news stories about the current administration's efforts to alter NPR's programming.)

Hmm... now that you mention it, what I see on the XM site and what is on my radio at channel 133 are different. Bob Edwards was currently playing on the web but Jim Lehrer was on my radio. I also don't see a BBC news channel on the web while I do see one on my radio. Also missing from the web are several other news channels including CSPAN and a couple versions of CNN. Very conspicuously absent was my kid's favorite station, Disney, which should be at 115. Very weird. I must admit that I don't listen much to the XM PUBLIC station, which I assumed was NPR, because we have 3 very good public radio stations here and I like the local content. How disappointing to hear that the NPR offerings are so sparse on XM.

I'm OK with Stern coming aboard... because no one can force me to listen to him!
Thank god for that! Still, I don't want even a penny of my $ ending up in his misogynist pockets, ever.

Regarding web vs. radio differences, Sirius has the same issue. For some reason all of the music channels are available as streaming audio, but only a few of the talk/entertainment channels are. From siriusbackstage.com's FAQ:
Most of the content found on the Sports, News, Entertainment, and Talk channels is produced by a third-party. SIRIUS has paid for the rights to put the SNET content on the satellite feed to our receivers. The rights to provide this content online is not available to SIRIUS. Often times this content is already available from terrestrial radio stations or directly from the website for the programming.
I imagine the same is true for XM.

After reading this thread again I started to get curious about Sirius, being an xm subscriber for 3 years. I signed up for the 3 day free trial for sirius, and although I heard different songs in rotation than I've heard on xm, i wouldnt say it's better or worse. I also haven't been able to listen to it enough during the 3 days to really form a good opinion on it. The one channel Sirius had that I like that xm doesn't is the Chill channel. Lots of beat oriented downtempo stuff.
I've read both Sirius and XM message boards, and the general consensus seems to be that Sirius had a better hard rock/classic rock selection, while XM has a better alternative selection. I mostly listen to the alternative/indie stations, (although XMU has gotten boring lately), so at least for now I'll stick with XM.
Another thing I like about XM are some of the specialty shows they have such as the progressive/underground hip hop show, the daily drum 'n bass/jungle show, and the Ninja Tune and turntablism shows on Sunday night. Does anyone know if Sirius has anything comparable?
