R50/53 OEM starter question

OEM starter question
Hi everyone, I have an 05 R53 - I had it at a mechanics recently to replace the starter, $710... I was told by them that they only use OEM parts, I even asked them if they could use an aftermarket to bring the cost down and they refused - saying again they only use OEM because they warranty the parts, etc. I now see the starter that they installed says it is Denso remanufactured in Mexico? Everything I can find says Bosch is the OEM manufacturer, is this right? Was I ripped off? Thanks for any input!!

The question is if the starter is new or reman'ed. A lot of garages lie and cheat to get more profit over the inflated "standard" labour rate plus part. The starter is not that hard to replace, especially with a lift.

Most are remanufactured. Bosch is OEM, on this one, denso is an alternative, its on the silver casting stating Bosch on the Genuine MINI one we have:
