Re-charged battery, OBC lights going nuts
I've a 2002 Cooper S I bought brand new.. It has 74,000 miles, driven to play with, and always kept inside from bad weather.
Went to start today, and classic click of dead battery. Popping the boot I attached a slow charger to the battery and its terminals. After 30 mins charger showed ok. Removed charger. Mini started right up, but the OBC (On-Board Computer) lights are totally freaking out. OBC lights look like Chinese, with constant changes, totally wacko. Took it for a spin, ran as always. Everything works right, except the OBC. OBC lights never did this before.
Reading these threads I tried using the ECU reset via the speedometer reset, but number 19 never came up. I then undid the battery for an hour, restarted, and have the same problem.
If requires dealer reset, then that is out, for they are 4 hours away. If not a "simple" fix that I can do, then can the OBC lights be "turned" off?
I like my little lady and want her to be happy too.

Fully charge the battery. Minis get funny about their power and how they show it. Most guage light problems can be sorted by checking the battery and power connections.
Case in point I recently replaced my battery as it was only reading 10.9 volts. If I started the car with a jump everything was fine. If I push started the car some of the lights on the guages would illuminate and stay on till I turned the car off. Upon replacement all lights went back to normal.

Battery was in poor condition and got a new one. Installed. Started up, OBC lights are now blank, better than going nuts with blinking. I pressed the OBC button several times, nothing. I'll take her out, perhaps the OBC has to "learn".
TY for your advice. If something changes I'll post a reply.
