Tricks for installing windshield A-pillar trim

So, some time ago I lost that little piece of trim that goes atop the driver’s side A pillar. I was able to pick up a replacement from WMW, but now I have an installation question. I figure the trim piece should just clip back into place, but there is also a black plastic tab that looks like it should slide into the gutter trim. I don’t want to force it into place and risk snapping the tab. Am I being overly cautious with this, or is there a particular trick to installing the trim piece?
