She's starting to shake, rattle & roll.....
well, rattle mainly......
right at the 2 year mark, my baby is starting to make vibrating noises inside. I've narrowed it down to the dashboard where the main vent is and the roof panel where the moonroof button is. They are both loud vibrations and annoying.
Anybody had this and solved it?
Thanks

Track aged mine too..
I'm getting some rattles too, they really showed up after a weekend on the track. Can't speak to the moonroof stuff, but I have seen posts on the dash rattle. You can remove the dash cover, and use some foam rubber or double sided tape to get the rattle away. Mine is really sporadic, and not very frequent. So I haven't done anything about it yet:smile:

Yup. Same here.
1. Getting dealer to fix the dash rattle here in a week. Yes, they seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and didn't ask any questions.
2. Sunroof. Had the dealer put some thin felt tape on the part that slides backwards. Fixed it for about a day. I then went to Lowe's, picked up some heavy duty felt pad strips (for under furniture/hard wood floor combo) and placed it where the rub marks are. Bingo. Fixed. You don't see it when it's closed and you don't see it when it's open either.
3. Now, I'm getting a rattle/noise from the seatbelt fastener by the driver's seat when wearing the belt (which is always.) I suspect it's the plastic "boot" over the fastener rubbing against the plastic base of the seat.
Gotta love plastic interiors with a stiff suspension!

Our '02 Cooper CVT with 26K miles has been great and I am happy to report that this car has been virtually free of annoying rattles and squeaks in 29 months of ownership. Not having a sunroof helps too.
If I ever hear a rattle or noise I don't stop until I locate it and get it fixed. The only annoying faint rattle I had in that car was coming from the driver's door panel and was easily fixed by removing the door card and tighten a couple of screws inside the door card that hold the armrest/handle bar in the door panel.
Our roads are not 100% glass smooth but avoiding potholes, manholes etc comes a long way in preventing these problems.
Not bad at all for a first year build.
